Title: FRED Question
Post by: Viper01 on January 18, 2007, 10:11:42 pm
I was wondering if there is a way make a ship run at a certain speed because I have a convoy of freighters who always accelerate up to 50m/s, which is slightly slower than my bomber on afterburners, and sprint to the jump node in two minutes. I want them to move at about 10m/s. Is there any way to do this? I can't find a reference to setting a ship to go at a certain speed anywhere in the FRED manual. Any help on this problem would be great. By the way, I am using the FRED that comes with the retail version of Freespace 1.

Use cap-waypoint-speed in the Change -> Special category.

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to do this in FreeSpace 1 (unless you feel like editing the table).  The cap-waypoint-speed sexp was only added in FreeSpace 2.

Oops, missed that part. Just scanned up to "make a ship run at a certain speed" and answered assuming it was based on FSO :p Teach me to read the entire post, it might. Or it might not.

Well that's a bummer. Thank you for the help. It is much appreciated.
