Hi guys,
I can't get my mouse wheel to work in Freespace 2. I'd like to use it to accelerate or decelerate, but I can't map it. I use a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical.
Thxs,

Not exactly what you're looking for, but should show you more or less what you might want to try to get it to do what you want (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,44634.0.html)

Yeah. Hard-coded mouse wheel support is not implemented (yet). You could try to script it as Taristin suggested... but I would personally rather use the wheel to change the field of view on-the-fly, ie. to zoom in and out.
Zoom function would be rather handy in some maxim sniping missions...

Yeah. In the original FS2 also, the mouse wheel doesn't work. It's a shame, it'd be very usefull...
Anyways, thxs!

Something I'd like to see is support for mice with more than three buttons. I have a five-button wheel mouse, and I would like to bind the extra shoulder buttons to cycle weapons but FS2 doesn't seem to detect them.
If you don't know what i'm talking about, this is a picture of the sort of mouse I have: http://www.cnn.com/TECH/computing/9910/20/intellimouse/intellimouse.large.jpg
The extra buttons work fine in most other games I have, so I guess it should be possible to do in FSO.

Ha, I have even more buttons than that on my mouse... Roughly 10 or more definable clicks...
