Title: RELEASE: (Multiplayer Mission), TSM-001a, Art of War
Post by: ShivanSpS on January 19, 2007, 10:08:16 pm
It still need some heavy-deep testing, but it should funsion as desingned :P

This is a "Advanced Training Module", who cover heavy escort duty and heavy fleet conflicts.

I told you, this is a hard mission, don't try it on more than Medium difficulty whiout about 4 players, if you are less than that I recommend to low a little the difficulty, but is hard to know if the mission is too easy, too hard or impossible when I the only tester here :P, so that will up to players.

Some of yours maybe remember an Art of War for FS1, a very popular unvalidated mission made by "Salvador" in the PXO era, well if some of your don't know yet, I who is known as "Salvador" in multiplayer both in FS1 and FS2 in PXO era, so this mission is my attempt to redone the FS1 Art of War that I made long time ago.

I made 2 versions, one for FS2, and other for FS1, or better know as FS1_Port (because you need the ST tables) :P

In the FS2 version be prepared for some very heavy ships/turrets sniping xD!

In FS1, well I no idea, be prepared to kill everything that cross in patch :P

I recommend to focus in playing the FS1 version, the FS2 one is impossible to finish, the mission is too long a crash is 100% sure (i hope someone start to fix the multiplayer bugs).

well here they are, have fun!

Certainly, they are not validated (even :P)

P.D. this gives a medal, the Wings.

P.D.2. Oh!, i almost forget it :P this mission hits the 100 ships limit when starts, so if you have a slow computer it will be better to play whiout mediavps.

After a while the number will never get nearly close to 100 again.

Current versions:
FS2: v1.3
FS1: v1.3

Sorry, Salv. Seems I crashed right after DL'ing the mission. Got this in the log:

"ERROR: "Couldn't open mission 'TSM_001_artofwar_fs2.fs2'" at mission/missionparse.cpp:6021"

Wait, it seems I got the mission file after all. I'll try if I'm able to host with it...

Edit: yep, it works now. Dunno why it crashed there.
Edit2: damn those ships are far away :D
Edit3: but it looks like it could be fun, once i get there...

if those ships are closer, the mission is impossible, the fighters and bombers will reach you too damn fast, and i not even considering about the fact the fighting the battlegroups take some time, anyway, about the destroyers, well i don't want to give all tricks, but noticed that there are 3 destroyer class, one of each specie, so, if you take down a destroyer you will get rid of that specie fighter and bombers, because they are taking off from there, and the only 8 Helios available to players are mounted in the myrmidons for a reason :P

also the trebs in the fighters xD!

Well I'm certainly glad to see people making new multiplayer missions :) Don't know when I'll get a chance to take a look at this but if I do, I will :)

Played this with Shivan, Hunter, and Fubar, and this is one hard mission.

yeah we need about 6 or more players...

3 suicide bombers, 1-2 fully trebs taking out turrets and the rest in heavy cover :P

Updated both to 1.2, there was a problem with Bastion and cruisers waypoints, and in the FS2 version there was a missing ship in "Terran Assault Wing", And i reduced the number of enemy waves  and re placed the orion and typhon in the FS1 version.

I always hate it when people say that. Use num-players and have the mission adjust. It does admittedly make the FREDding harder but it means that there is a much better chance of people actually playing it. :)

actually not, i just make the mission first and then after some testing I say we need about 4-5 good players.

The problem here is the we need about 2 Suicide bombers, and one to take out turrets, and... who going to snipe the bombers then?, the delays are ajusted for always having 2 wings of fighters and bombers flying, nor 6, but if you dont take out one or 2 destroyers real fast you may have a moment where all respawns going to be the same and again you will face 25 fighters and 25 bombers -.-

The other problem is, now, only the FS1 version can be finish, the FS2 is nearly 100% sure crash, because of the anti-fighter beams.
and i have to say, that this is MY tactic that i made after some testing, i not even considering about... for example... disabling ships...

Well your FREDding style is your own but that's always struck me as being like building a rollercoaster and then posting signs saying that you've checked and you have to be 5'10 to ride or else you get thrown off. :D
