Well, seems like eveyone else has had their own campaign ideas submitted at one time or another...now it's my turn. This campaign (assuming I even go as far as planning out missions.) Would take place not too far in the future after Capella's sudden...destablization. Reeling from the loss of entire armies at the hands of the shivans, and coping with millions if noy billions of homeless GTVA citizens, the GTVA as a whole slowly begins to tear itself apart. The "core" faction, also happening to be the largest, attempts to regain control by elimating anyone and anything that poses a threat to the GTVA's fragile integrety. The GTVA eventually shifts itself from a democracy into a brutal dictatorsip...*more to come*
-
*continued*...and because of it, the citizens become aggitated and rebelious. Ironically, a shift in government placed to control the citizens has done the exact opposite. Yet the GTVA fails to buckle down, and intead applies more pressure to its citizens, finally breaking them down to a humbled aggitation. Now...for the part *you* play...In this campaign you once again assume the role of Alpha 1 (the same one as in FS2). You are still a loyal member of the GTVA's armed forces, and continue our duties until a chance encounter flips your world upside-down as the true side of the dicatorship GTVA surfaces. You defect to one of the more powerful rebel factions comprised of former GTVA soldiers and officers looking to bring glory and democracy back to the GTVA. Your objective is to neutralize this corrupt GTVA and restore it to it's former state. But, can a small faction of warships and fighters pull off such a grand task...you decide, by making this campaign a reality. Remember, there's no hope for Alpha 1 if it doesn't get off the planning stages (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
So...what do you all think? Good, bad, utterly horrible?

Wing commander 4 anybody? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever considered that, just like the United States after Sept. 11th the GTVA would become more united by Capella. Special help would be directed towards the Capellan refugees, etc etc.
Aside from that, it'd be interesting to play the Robin Hood to the GTVA's Sherrif of Nottingham. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

America, stand assured that Israel truly understands what you are going through.
Know how to use Rhino3D? Want to put your ships into Freespace 2? You've come to the right place ("http://www.geocities.com/sandvich/fs2/rhino_fs2/")!

[whistle innocently]
Or Cal Johnston to the Corporate Opressors?

Seriously though, it would be a rather entertaining campaign for those of us that like to shoot down other Terrans (that was my favorite part of the FS1 expansion).

Terrans always seem to be the ones who deserve it, neh?

heh, I used to be making a campaign where-in the GTVI went rogue... again (hardly original). Fun thing was that, although alpha 1 is a terran, the leader of the resistance was nobody less than Emperor Khonsu II (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Apparently he had nothing else to do.
Delta's idea is nice but maybe he could add the idea of Sandwich.
After Capella the GTVA comes together more than ever before... But elements withing GTVA Gov. use this to tighten control on every level.
Then the first protests start and the GTVA clamps down. After that it escalates and with the loss of those armies everything acts out as Delta told us.
Might make a nice tough for the background story, some command briefings (in which you see everything escalate) and some of the early missions.
Just an idea...

When I mentioned the GTVA picking itself apart, I meant the Gov't and the corporations. The people remained a whole, but were kinda lost throughout the whole thing. Still...Sandwich's idea is a good one.

This looks very interesting; would it be kind of like what happened to the GTA in the years between FS1 and 2?
My campaign's story has a few similarities with this actually. If you ever decide to make a campaign out of this, I would definitely try it out. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Hmm? No no, this would take place about 5-10 years after the events of FS2. Of course, I'd never be able to make this thing on my own (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)...I can't even FRED! (Well, I can, but I can't use SEXPs to save my life. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif))

bump...please? I need staff! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

If I don't get an e-mail from untouchable that I can join, count me in!
(P.S. I have my own campaign I used to do, so, with some modifications, we can merge yours with my existing 3 missions (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif))
P.S.S. I have since cancled the campaign, or put it on hold until all my staff comes back...

Cool. I already have a mission designer signed up, but another couldn't hurt. This campaign won't feature many mods if any, so don't worry about laborous tasks like modeling and converting ships (or even worse, texturing!).
