Title: Nicest sounding weapon
Post by: Vasudan Commander on January 23, 2007, 02:57:51 am
What made you wanna pull the trigger ?

For me , it was the ML-16 Laser. The first shot i fired, and i was hooked. I couldnt stop squeezing em off. I even killed the instructor i was so gun happy.  :drevil:

The Railgun in INF:A.

In FS2 it'll be the Kayser.  :D

FS1, nothing.

FS2, Maxim when fired slow (the firing rate when you're firing two banks at the same time). Or maybe Maxim with Kayser. Dunno. But mostly Maxim. :D

FS2 non-player weapons, AAAf and any MjolnirBeam.

Inferno R1, maybe the Flak guns. INF:A, don't know, maybe the Ripper.

I'd like to throw in a vote for the worst sounding weapon: the charge-up of any anti-fighter beam when you know you're in range. :ick:

thats not the 'worst' sounding weapon. Its good if you're luring enemy fighters to a friendly warship.  :D

But when you're attacking enemy cap ships....  :eek2:

I see you've never encountered a BFRed at extremelly close range. :p

i have several times :nervous: that beam is soo noisey.

im not sure i have a favorite weapon noise, id say the closest a prom. it dont fire rapidly, the weapon noise is not as repetitive as say a morningstar or hl-7... but im not sure  :doubt:

Nice, this one is more unique than the last few "what is your favorite..." threads.

FS2, Maxim when fired slow

I agree, the linked Maxim is the best by a long way. It sounds even better with the morning star. The Maxim in general is the second coolest weapon I've seen in any game.

I also rather like the BGreen noise.

Firestorm cannon from ITDOH.

But, if we're doing canon-only weapons, then the larger Shivan beams. You just gotta love a sound like that.
Or the Flail. That was always a fun weapon.

The Morning Star did it for me. When I'm firing that thing, I'm in high heaven :D.It's a nice long-range tactical weapon capable of sniping the crap out of those pesky Nephilim bombers. Plus, it has the coolest sound. The recharge takes a little while, but after 15 seconds and a few rockeyes later, it's playtime all over again.

I've never played FS1 so I couldn't pick one from there.

In FS2 I'd have to say Maxim or Mekhu. I love the Mekhu's ROF, it sounds like you're using a friggin minigun... so fun just to strafe less agile craft with it and fire off a few hundred shots :D

I must say that a BFRed powering up may not be good news (especially when you can't see it :nervous:) but it sounds damn cool!

The Railgun in INF:A.

Yeah. :)

For FS1 it was probably Terran Huge Turret. It sounded like a cricket.

BGREEN WINS!

To me the most awesome sound in Fs is that made by the beam cannons as they are charging and firing ! That sound just makes the hairs on the back of mi neck stand. Even more terifing is the sound made by the shyvan beam cannons cuz usualy when does fire a battleship usualy goes down. And there is almost nothing you can do to stop them.

I always feel so warm and loved when those Terran blob turrets fire.  That friendly pwiiiing just fills me with confidence.  What hope do the enemies of humanity have against such an elegant, fearsome weapon?

beam_shot2.wav.  Create a pulse weapon with that as its firing sound.

The hope that they will never EVER hear that stupid sound ever again. Gawd, that's an annoying sound. Makes me want to disable that ship....

Right.  And you wonder why the Shivans destroyed Capella and took out their own ships...I tell you, man, there were blob turrets going off everywhere.

As Transcend says: everyone has a limit.

Judging from the Capella cutscene alone, that might be the reason that poor Rakshasa resigned itself to that Aeolus. :p
