Title: Hmm, best not get a tattoo....
Post by: aldo_14 on January 23, 2007, 10:17:54 am
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01/23/footie_mad_tattooist/

Quote
A young Argentinian footie fan who decided to celebrate his love for Boca Juniors by having the team's logo tattooed on his back paid the price for not adequately researching the body artist's own allegiances.

The tattooist was, unknown to the unnamed teen, a follower of rival club River Plate, and accordingly substituted a penis for the Boca Juniors' crest.

The victim - who is now suing the tatooist - lamented: "I could not see what he was tattooing because he didn't have a mirror. I only saw it when I got home and showed it to my parents."

Meh, tattoos are nasty things on the body. Toxic chemicals can get into your bloodstream. Tattoos are permanent enough to be embarrassing later in life. When you get older, that tattoo won't look like it used to (old, wrinkly people with tatoos :ick:). And nobody really cares if you get one. It's like a painting, it's there, you notice it, you don't care, you move on. I see no reason for anyone to get a tattoo.

And nobody really cares if you get one.

Tattoos are more about your own personal thing, not other people.

What if you get a tattoo of a scar?

Or would that just be, as I presume, stupider than the tattoo itself?

Scars = Not so hot

I cut my finger to the bone a few years ago, and the scar tissue is actually pushing my finger out of joint.

It depends on what kind of scar/what it looks like/how you get it.

If you get this gash across your back from when you single handedly fought off three armed muggers, that would be cool. Likewise, if you cut your arm open reaching into a garbage disposal trying to get an ice cube you dropped down it, that would be stupid.

Unless you lied about it, of course.

See this thing that looks like a papercut? I got it rescuing children from a bus that fell into a river.

I have a scar that runs from the middle of my back to my chest. I told my wife when I met her that it was from a shark bite, and she believed me (for a little while anyway, because I couldn't keep my face straight)  . It actually came from a lung operation when I was much younger!

I have a scar across my hand that I used to say I got in a knife-fight. It's actually sort of true, I was fighting to get a knife to go through a leg of ham when I was working in a Delicatessan and my hand slipped....

I've got a scar on the palm side of my right hand's little finger. I got it as a kid when one dude hit me with a hammer (after we had an argument about something I have already mostly forgotten). With the nail-removing side first. I reflex-stopped the blow with my hand and the little finger was caught in between the hammer's "claws" or whatever they are.

I guess I've got it inverted - the scar is barely visible, but the story of how I got it is more or less impressive. Not that it comes up very often anyway, because the "scar" is just... a neat pale line at the root of my little finger.'

I still wouldn't take a tattoo NOR a scar voluntarily. Even though I did make a one-pixel tattoo to myself with a re-fillable pencil lead... nine years ago or so. It's still visible. :nervous:

I have a small eyebrow scar from an old car crash at high speed.

The 'car' being my plastic ride-on tractor, the 'old' being when I was about 4, and the 'high speed' being down the slope at the side of my garage.  Oh, and the 'crash' being hitting a wall & splitting me noggin open.

I got one while I was running laps. I fell down onto some sharp pebbles at the side of the track and on my left knee I got a huge scar. I also got a small one on my eye from jumping on the sofa and falling (3 years old).

I've got one on my shoulder.

We were putting up barbed wire fence. In order to make sure the cows don't break the fence, the barbed wire has to be stretched a little when it's put on. While this is done, people have to hold it up off the ground so that it doesn't snag.

Unfortunately, the wire we were using was a bit old, and snapped. So this wire was hurtling back at high speeds, and I was standing there holding it up.

It ripped through two long-sleeve shirts and into my shoulder. The entire right side of my shirt was soaked with blood.

When I was 6 or 7, I jumped off a porch and landed in a crouching position next to an open car door (an old Honda), and something on the bottom of the door was apparently protruding and sharp.. it cut my right ear nearly off, enough to the point that the top half of my ear was hanging downward by a piece of skin. It bled, a lot. For some reason (I think because I was so young maybe? I don't remember), the doctors couldn't give me any local anasthetic (sp?) when he stitched me up with 25 or so stitches. I remember it hurt a lot but I don't really remember the specific pain. I still have a scar (obviously) and a great story that chicks dig.

Similarly, not much more than a year later, my brother and I were racing through the house to go outside and jump on our trampoline. Our raceway took us through the garage, and running in my family's garage is never a good idea. I ran by a 10-gallon paint can, the kind with the tabs that are hammered down to seal it. Well, this one was open, and some tabs were pryed up and even broken in the middle, creating yet another sharp protrusion. My leg caught it. On the right side of my right leg, just under the knee (pretty meat-y, like part of the calf almost) to just past the top of my shin I had a huuuge cut, basically a canyon in my leg. It cut down to the first layer of tissue, which I remember being as white as snow. Being the youngster I was, and having seen cartoons with white skeletons, I thought I was looking at my fibula/tibia! I could see shelves of weird fleshly organ like devices lining the inside of my leg before the canyon filled with a river of blood. I tried to hold my leg together the best I could while my dad after hearing me scream ran in, picked me up, set me in the car, and we rushed to the ER. Another 30 or so stitches, with anasthetic this time fortunately; another great story to go with another great scar.

Skorzeny didn't have scars like that. Who confused him with Schnellburg?
