US can do better....

US attorney General Alberto Gonzales actually had the audacity to argue before a Congressional committee that the US Constitution doesn't explicitly bestow habeas corpus rights on US citizens. In his view it merely says when the so-called Great Writ can be suspended, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the rights are granted.
Pinched from Warpstorm btw :)

I saw that. He's not going to have a job after this one :D

LOL I certainly hope so, he might as well have said 'Hey, I preferred it when the British were in charge, let's have another civil war!'.

Just because it says you can remove it, doesn't mean you had it, right?
-
It doesn't explicetly, but yes it is clearly implied.

Is there any chance that intentional subversion of civil rights can be considered treason in US law?

To quote Stephen Colbert roughly, "It's as if they're holding these truths to be self-evident."
-
“You may be treading on your interdiction of violating common sense,” Specter said."
Translated that means: "You don't know what the **** you're talking about newb".
