Title: Shawdow/voloron question
Post by: stargate2008 on January 24, 2007, 01:12:07 pm
I was creating a mission that would have the player fly the shadow fighter but when i tried to set it as a player ship, it didnt work.  I'm wondering if anybody ever plioted a shadow or vorlon fighter? Is that even possiable?

You bet.  I used to do it all the time.  If you're making a single mission, make sure the ship type and weapons you want are selected in the team loadout editor.

Just change Alpha 1 into a shadow or vorlon fighter. If you're trying to change the type of ship in-game in the ship selection screen then make sure you have some Vorlon and Shadow fighters available in the Team Loadout editor in FRED.

Um, start with a blank mission, select the default fighter that it auto-creates, change its class to Shadow Fighter.  Make sure said craft and supporting weapons are available in the team loadout editor, make that ship part of Alpha wing = done.

It is, hmmm. Also the Raider Wars missions in the tech room allows me to pick anything but the vorlon and shadow fighter

Because RW was written before those ships were released.

If it doesn't work with the loadout screen, simply make the mission into either a "red alert" or "scramble" mission (can't remember which one), so the selection screen for the fighter isn't even available.
That way I was able to test out the Seraphim bomber back in vanilla FS2 ;)
