Title: WARNING! VERSUS THREADS AHEAD!
Post by: Shrike on February 23, 2001, 03:06:00 am
We're looking into the possibility of doing some amusing crossovers.  So are there any specific scenes you think would be interesting to see?

Erinyes fighters taking on the Black Guard?
Herc fly-by of the Yamato?
Dreadnoughts escorting the Colossus?

Just ask.

I'd love to take the Black Guard flagship against an Orion  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

I've got a Yamato model somewhere in here if you want to try and make it fs2 workable.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Not 100% sure if you can lower the poly count enough thou.

As for the SL ships...check my reply in Shrike's thread about it. A little bit more info I learned after I first told him about it.

YF-23, quite an asthetically pleasing design.

As for requests, how about Spaceball 1 taking on the death star?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

The IWar Dreadnaught against an Orion or similar.

Actually, could you do IWar pics?  There's quite a lot of missions with perfect story-type bits.

Poor Tigers. Even FS's AI is intelligent compared to SL's.

Yeah, poor tigers
Hehe, I once told a wingman to attack a Kirov so he rammed it!
But at least you can taunt you opponents in SL.
Alpha ones conversational skills vs. the guy in SL.
StarLancer wins striaght out.

Which reminds me, how big is an IW destroyer class, like the Harvard (IW1 intro - standard destroyer class)?

It's roughly between the Fenris and Deimos in size.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Honestly, the technologies seen in Starlancer and in I-War are nothing compared to the ships in the FreeSpace universe.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

There was a diagram in the box with all the ship sizes, with the biggest freighter being extremely hefty.  I'll have a search if I can be bothered.

Starlancer's ion cannon is quite a pain. Poweful enough to destroy a shielded carrier in one shot but yet accurate enough to track a fighter. And those capship shields are nearly impossible to penetrate.

Thats why you have to take out the shield generator  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Yep, it was the alliance capship (think Colossus only not as powerful). It's the ship in these pictures:

Edit: Are you sure Icefire? it seems kinda detailed and curvy to me... all the SL ships seem that way...

You couldn't say it's as powerful as the Colossus, no way.  Starlancer capship battles always seemed to last a lot shorter than FS2 ones, a case of take out the shield generator then someone launches torps.  Shame, since the ship models are really quite good, ableit too dark.
