Title: Render Contest Entry - Ship+Planet
Post by: wEvil on January 07, 2002, 08:55:00 am
It will do to be going on with..the planet cloud layer needs alot of tweaking as does the lighting.

Still have to do a nebula/starfield.

wEvil, your detail is incredible. How much of that is texture mapping and how much is actual polygon detail?

Most of it is actual geometry.

Standard mesh editing and shapemergeing tools and some lofts in the right places.

The textures are multilayered bitmaps created in paintshop pro.

i think its about 150,000 polygons all told but i lost track a few weeks ago.

Its gorgeous. You intending to do any animations with it, or is the ultra-detailed version just a pet project?

Groovy.

I just headed over to your webpage and examined some of your other work. Of particular interest to me was your Adamist starship from the Night's Dawn trilogy. This being one of my favorite works, I've been considering putting together some blackhawks and voidhawks for Iwar2, as well as, perhaps 'LaGrange' Calvert's ship... and Tranquility. Oh yes. Tranquility. *bliss*

BTW, has anyone ever considered gettin revenge on the Shivans by sending something like the Neutronium Alchemist their way?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I see the stars. They're kinda blocked by the nebula effect, mostly... Glitterato?
