I can't help but laugh and at the same time be pissed off about how ignorant these idiots are. Seriously. How the **** would CARTOON CHARACTERS giving the finger be a terrorist plot?!

Quote
The bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has confirmed  that this is a hoax. Some of the markings on the devices found resemble a cartoon character.

1) Not a hoax of any kind
2) OF COURSE IT'S A ****ING CARTOON.

No no it's definately a bomb. Look. it has wires. Blinky lights, and a bunch of batteries taped with electrical tape. What else could it be?

Well, you have to ask yourself, what would you do if you saw a blinking electronic device planted on a bridge? Keep in mind that you might not recognize it as a cartoon character at first; the resolution is quite bad. Keep in mind that as a citizen, you may not have watched these cartoons. Even if you have, many, many people drive past them on a morning. It only takes one person to pick up their cellphone and report it.

Since when do bombs have lights on them? What a bunch of idiots. If you ask me, they should file charges against the guy who reported it for making a disturbance, not the guy who put them there.

If you watched the coverage on the website, at the end it is stated that there were about 10 of these in 10 cities for over 2 weeks already. Someone in Boston, though, went Ape****.

It doesnt even have enough volume to be a bomb of any worth. And no bomber in his right mind would put it in a publicly viewable place with blinkig lights.

I just saw a fairly long apology bump on Adult Swim, basically saying how they're sorry for the misunderstanding, didn't mean to alarm anyone, are calling the proper people etc. I believe this was some kind of ad campaign they hired out to a 3rd party and it got out of hand.

I was hoping for a punchline at the end of their apology, but unfortunately, they were completely serious.

Unless that's what they want you to think!

OMG...  I love it.

And to quote Fight Club...

"My luggage..  Was it.. ticking?"
"Of course it wasn't ticking because modern bombs don't tick..."

If this whole debacle has taught me anything, it's that most people don't know the difference between LEDs and Lite Brites.

well honestly an array of LEDs set into a crude image DOES look like a light bright.

It pretty much is a Litebrite.

No it isn't. With LEDs, each element is an independent light source. With Lite Brites, each peg is just a colored piece of plastic that transmits light from a single backlight.

but they look very much the same, in fact one could probably make a lightbright using leds on something like a breadboard rather than plastic pegs on a backlit screen.

You used substandard LiteBrites.

No, LiteBrites are just older than LEDs. (or at least commonly available LEDs, I don't know when the earliest prototype was made)

Like I said, substandard. Besides, the newest models did use LEDs.
