Title: Which CVS-Branch is more actual?
Post by: Mr_Maniac on February 05, 2007, 03:29:09 am
Hi there ;)

I only have one little question:
Which CVS-Branch is more actual/newer?
fs2_open_3.6.9 or HEAD?

At least, HEAD is getting more updates, but that doesn't say anything, I guess ;)
So which CVS-Branch should I take ATM if I want the newest Testing-Versions of FS2_Open?

The fs2_open_3.6.9 branch is the last official SCP release; the only reason it would be changed is if a show-stopper of a bug were discovered.  The HEAD branch represents all of the newest/experimental additions to the code, so that's what you'd want if you're looking to try out new features.  If you just want something for playing purposes, you'd want to go with 3.6.9.

Actually the 3.6.9 branch is what will eventually become 3.6.10 so there will be updates to it. HEAD will become 3.7 further down the line.

Mongoose is completely correct about why you might use a build from HEAD rather than 3.6.9 though.

Okay. Thanks :)
I only asked because I wasn't sure if the HEAD branch was already merged with the 3.6.9-Branch.. Well... I hope you understand what I mean...

Not long ago, HEAD-Branch wasn't "3.6.9"... And after release it was broken for a while.
Back then, I was told, that it still must be merged...
