Solar wars "fun"
Got one for you folks"Solar Wars " have most of the tools,How do I convert it?to VP.So it'll run for 3.6.9
or is it a lost cause?
-
Nah.
-
You do not need to convert to VP in order to run on 3.6.9. If you're having problems with it you won't fix them that way.
However the problems are fairly minor though. If you tell us what they are we should be able to fix them.
-
Havn't tried yet[to convert it] was mostly wondering if I had to..
There are several camps that Ive found doing a general seach, and I figued what the hell.
Thanks K.
-
Or you could ask me, the guy who made Solar Wars, were you could get it. :p
-
O.k Gai, Where would I find Solar wars, as well as your other mods\camps, that happen it be compatible with OpenFS 3.6.9 And not retail.
-
Solar Wars has some model problems. When the models for the "unknown ships" show up, they're wrong, at least the last time I tried to play it.

All my campaigns are on my website (See my sig). As for what is able to work with FSOpen...they would be the campaigns that DONT require addons such as Inferno.
So I'm sorry to say I cant help you should you try to run campaigns like Solar Wars with FSOpen as I built them to work with Retail.
Everything else on there that does not require an addon works with FSOpen.
-
... It won't even work with INF:SCP?

INF:SCP hasn't been released. Don't get confused, you're thinking of the SCP patch for Inf R1, that's not what INF:SCP is.

Nope, kind of wrong. All of them will work with FSOpen except Solar Wars.

You make it...

look near the bottom
EDIT: for the latest version of the Modding Tools for FreeSpace:
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,42854.0.html
Download the Installer (.exe version, unless you know how to run .jar Java files, see the bottom if you want to d'l only 9KB instead of 20MB!)
When the Installer asks you to, choose your install directory (your FreeSpace2 dir)
Then choose "Update All Features"
Then "Let me choose for each one"
Only choose "Yes" for the FreeSpace Modding Tools, choose "No" for everything else (unless you want some of the other stuff, like the .ogg cutscenes or something.)
To use Java:
...
1st, un-install all Java runtime environments older than version 6 (not to be confused with version 5 update 6) - ie, if it doesn't say "Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment 6" in Add/Remove Programs (in Control Panel)
*RESTART COMPUTER*
2nd, install JRE 6: http://www.filehippo.com/download_java_runtime/tech/ (link to d'l is on right)
3rd, download & install: http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/java/javautilities/javautilities.exe
4th, download & run (double-click): http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/java/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.jar
...
-
Gai, Oh ,ok Misunderstood..
jr2, thanks!
-
I've got a copy of Solar Wars that works on FSO 3.6.9. I'll send it to you.
-
Cool,
-
Hey!!! Share it! :hopping:
-
Macfie: Thanks
-
Yeah um, post it for all of us....
-
@Macfie, ty again; do you mind if I upload this to FileFront for the rest of the crew?
-
No I have no problem with you posting it. All I did was a couple of tweaks to it. It is Gai Daigoji's campaign.
-
Alrighty then:

- make sure you don't use a Download manager, such as GetRight or Free Download Manager (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org), they usually mess up with FileFront (although I highly recomment FDM when it is possible to use it.)
