I think the engine trail on the nearest fighter is a little too bright... *puts on sunglasses*  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/icons/icon6.gif)

Yeah....wow.

From the thumbnail I figured it was a beam or something.

Yea, Homeworld engine glows are long and sort of look like beams you could say.

I know what HW engine glows look like.  I've played as many HW games as you have.   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

I'm just saying it looks really intense for a HW trail.  In game they weren't so overpowering....

No, I mean FS2 TO HW, so HW ships in FS2.
Anyways, I'm saying that I heard that FS2 uses an alignment engine for the beams, so, you could make a beam that has no damage, you can fly threw it (I think it's possible) and color it red!

OK next time I do something like this, I'll make the engine trail a bit more transparent.

No, FS2 to HW means Freespace ships in Homeworld. HW to FS2 means Homeworld ships in Freespace. And unless you've been under a rock for 4 months (or a newbie) we're already working on it.

Does ANYONE get what I'm trying to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????
What I'm TRYING to say is that I heard that FS2 uses an alignment engine for it's beams.....sooooooooooooo...you make a beam that you can fly through, and make it do 0% damage, and YOU CAN USE THIS WITH THE PRE-EXISTING HW SHIPS IN FS2 MOD TO CREATE THE SIGNATURE CONTRAILS OF THE HW ENGINE!
Sheesh!

And UT, I think I get what youre saying....

Thank you.
Anyways, my reason for mentioning the alignment engine is to try to figure out how to make the beams twist whenever the fighter does.

And *Hangars*  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Hmmmmm...how about making this part of a fighter (that's connected to the first one) fire at the main body of the fighter with an ion beam, and make it swing whenver the fighter turns?

The beam still fires in a given direction, so it doesn't leave a contrail where it once was, just behind it.

AND(MOST IMPORTANT) A beam goes on FOREVER, the length of a beam is infinite if you do not know already, and having a line going from a fighter all the way across the screen would look like **** , and having 50+ fighters flying around, ughhhh

Yeah, and they'd stay rigid. So with those 50+ fighters flying around with rigid contrails, it'll look like alot of lightsabers duking it out. Hmmm... There must be a way for those trails to move and die out. I just can't see fighters from Homeworld without the trails... WAIT A MINUTE! What about the trails left behind in a NEBULA?!! Couldn't that be "somehow" transfered to an open space location? Elongated, enlarged and coloured?

Hey, I usually don't unless I'm trying to figure something about someone else's campaign or am told to VIA ICQ
