Sierra Online is bringing the popular sci-fi show Battlestar Galactica to the Xbox Live network and PCs in a new video game this fall. The space flight simulator will have ships from both the human and Cylon races and will feature single and multiplayer games. A single player campaign mode will also have missions that resemble episodes from the television series.
The Battlestar Galactica television series is a remake of the popular series first aired way back in 1978. In the show the human race is fighting for survival after a massive Cylon sneak attack. The survivors have formed a space caravan of sorts led by the Battlestar Galactica, a massive warship that can launch fighters and missiles. The new series has become a cult favorite and has received industry awards for writing excellence.
To spice up interest, Sierra Online has set up a website http://www.bsgarcade.com/ (http://www.bsgarcade.com/)with the latest news. Xbox Live users can also download pictures through Xbox Live Marketplace
Well this is excting! if there ever was a way to bring back the Space Sim, I think that attaching it to a license like BSG will be it. definitely one to keep an eye on, and i hope to all things good and holy the don't bugger it up. But if they do, at least we still have (hopefully) Beyond the Red Line to look forward to (and I am!)
Could this be the start of the Second Age of Space Sims?

BSG Arcade doesn't sound like it'll be the same type of thing as BTRL.

Is there even any information pertaining to, y'know, what you do in this game?

First person shootery. But that could mean in a Beachhead style, etc.

Even if there's a release date, it's not a certainty that it'll ever exist as a game...
Remember Into the Fire. Which was also being developed by Sierra...

Nah, it's a Live Arcade game; relatively trivial :)
