Title: Rebels & Renegades troubles

Hi all,

I've only started with freespace 2 recently but aready am totally hooked... however, atm I've got issues with the 1st special operations mission, rebels and renegades.

The problem is, after having neutralized the first few waves of bombers, and the iceni taking out the corvette, some new bombers and another corvette jump in... when all fighters are down, I get the asteroid notification, but from that very moment the iceni stops firing at the other corvette and just sits and waits until the beam cannons of the corvette have destroyed it. It always get the corvette down to 28% then gets wasted.. :(

I'm not able to command wings to attack the corvette nor have the firepower to take it down myself, and in the walkthrough I read that the 2nd corvette should be an easy job for the iceni to handle by itself with its green beams, if it survives the early onslaught in a fit state (usually between 90 and 95% for me).

It's pretty frustrating as I have no idea how to tackle this... playing medium difficulty, using FS2 SCP 3.6.9. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Well, looks like there is something corrupted in my campaign or something, I've now started over using retail freespace2, and the mission was a breeze, the 2nd corvette was easily dealt with, and iceni survived easily...

I'll just continue with this pilot, and remove the other one, not sure what was happening there, I didn;t even get the mission finished on very easy with that pilot.

Ah, GTVA Command must have come up with a new tactic. "Don't even try, it's useless."

Re-install. Ive had it happen to me before, but when i reinstalled it (keeping the pilots), it worked.

If not, then its a corrupt pilot file. Delete it manually, and start again. Sux i know, but hey, its the only way.

you don't have to uninstall the game; just kill the pilot file. keep seperate pilot files for different campaigns.

Thanks for the help people, I ended up playing the campaign over again with another pilot, and experienced no other problems.  :)

Now busy making my way through the Derelict Campaign... some really good stuff out here on these forums.  :cool:
