im curious about a few things about the pof format for a project im considering embarking upon. main thing being i need some up to date specs. i remember [v] or somone else released comprehensive pof specs. but as i understand it the pof format has undergone at least a couple minor revisions sence the start of the scp.
ive been looking over the pcs sourcecode and any other matierial on the format i can get my hands on, even gonna check the freespace 2 code. i might undestand the code better if i have a referece about the data structure to go on.

I need this too

Do you have a link to the original specs handy? I'll try and fill in anything that's missing, assuming that I have somewhere to start. :)

http://www.descent2.com/ddn/specs/pof/ ?
The descent manager site with the FS stuff on it has fallen into the brink of internet death :(

DDN hardly has ever worked for me actually. The site is either completely down, extremely slow, or mostly unresponsive. That's for the links that tend to work anyway. :sigh:
But, I'll take what's there and try and fill in the current specs and put everything in a PDF for easy access.

ddn was always a death trap. it used to be my main source of tools back when i was modding descent 2.
anyway and documentation would be greatly apriceated.

Use www.archive.org (http://www.archive.org) to retrieve dead sites.
Sometimes can be surprising to see what's archived just a couple
versions ago ^_^

heh cool, i guess theese (http://web.archive.org/web/20020105061512/www.freespace-2.com/ddn/specs/pof/) are the original specs.
