Is this realtime ingame lighting? WOW

Nice to see someone else using similar style of ship lighting like mine  :)

Coolies lighting, but I never did really like the design.

No, render test.

Couple small suggestions, although you might not like them/fit your style.

Try blurring the edges of the lights (using something like 60 inner angle, 80 outer angle)

Also consider where the light sources should be coming from and put a rather small light source (intensity 1, outer decay radius = very small) there, it should be close to the surface.  This will give the appearance of the actual light bulb. Something kinda like this:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/Shodan_AI/athena5.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v356/Shodan_AI/athena5.jpg)

I'm trying to avoid the appearance of an actual light bulb, firstly because most of the light sources are under the 'cusp' of sticky-out bits, and secondly because it'd be a ridiculously huge lightbulb :)

(and thirdly, because of rendering artifacts with the lens flare)

Is this for Lost Souls?

This could be sort of replicated with glowmaps, right?

Yes and probably, yes.  I'm not sure, though, I'd want it replicated with glowmaps; I'm only doing this to mimic the Bastion cutscene in FS2 (where the model is lit), and also it's not as effective IMO without shadowing going on.  I'd rather keep the 'blank' model (which i think actually looks better ingame than this) and leave it open for highly-hypothetical lighting support or something.

Plus, i'm not sure there's much benefit in lighting a warship up like a Christmas tree; if I modelled this again I wouldn't have any lights on it except for a tiny number of observations ones.

It's kinda odd looking that there's no source for most of the lights aft of amidships...

To be quite frank (and tedd, and bob, perhaps too) I never cared for the lighting arrangements on the Bastion in the cutscene. And I must say that the sharp cutoffs, no clear source for the lights, and their shape and intensity detract from the ship's appearence IMO...

It looks nice IMO.

You will try to put those lighting effects in-game for the hangar, won't you?

There are different effects for the hanger already;

Would you be able to fly in the hangar and stuff?

Pretty nice... could we possibly use lights on fighters or bombers, as a spotlight... I think it would be helpful to have spotlights with a range of about 120m for normal use and scaling light (darker further away) from 120m to about 400m. It would help in close-range dogfights on the dark sides of ships.

Of course; that's ingame.  Well, there was a tiny wee bug with bounding box issues in-cockpit, but I believe it was fixed quite some time ago :)

I remember seeing a screenshot of a fighter with a flashlight in the TVWP site.

THAT was the Enceladus (same model at least, Mustang Alpha). :P

I thought a loyal Inferno fan would know. Traitor. :(

OH right, now I remember.

ACTUALLY, when I first used the Enceladus in INF:A I said "Hmm... I think I already saw that ship somewhere". So, I'm not SO traitor :p

UGH... The DS sindrome caught also me... NEVER browse anymore in the "HLP classic THREADS"

Please don't EMPHASISE words like that, it's pretty patronising.

Looked like you were tying to pick an argument. I have no patience for stupid quarrels. If you're joking, tis one thing.
