Title: FRED Open

When i try to run Fred Open i get this message telling me to create a shortcut and put -FREDhtl at the end of the Target but it won't allow me :confused:

Also, when i click OK it allows me into FRED Open but i can't access any backgrounds (Making it impossible to see the ships without sunlight) or my custom tables (such as ships or weapons).

Could i please get a solution ASAP as i am going away without internet access and I am intending to make several missions on my trip ;)

Create a shortcut to the particular FRED exe you want to use. Right click the new shortcut and select 'Properties'. In the shortcut tab you ought to see 'Target' line (or something) which reads something like '...\FreeSpace2\fred2_open.exe'. After the .exe add -fredhtl

You can also write there -glow and -spec and use mod directories.

So it could be something like
...\FreeSpace2\fred2_open.exe -glow -spec -fredhtl -mod mediavps

After that click ok and double click on the shortcut.

Now i dont have any background in FRED.
What the hell am i doing wrong? Man this is frustrating.

Probably nothing wrong at all. Does it appear when you open the background editor?

You also have to check the "Show Background" in the "View" menu.
