Title: Mainhall animation

What are our options for a high quality fully animated mainhall? To put it in context we have a render of a sausage shaped space station spinning which takes up about 4/5ths of the Main Hall screen. Currently to make it work I had to make the 4/5ths of the screen featuring the spinning space station into a 256 colour .ani file  :(. This is told to animate immediately (looping) in the mainhall.tbl . Are there any better options?

Options:

1) Scripting
2) Wait for the new 24-bit animation format for use on the interface

That's pretty much it.

Oh it is, it just takes hours to initialize each time. hence the waiting.

Can someone clarify the last three posts for me regarding the 24 bit animation? Is it in 3.6.9? Is it not? Now do I use it? How long is this delay? I would appreciate the advice. Thanks.
