Title: Blending? et al.
Post by: FOX2PRO on February 21, 2007, 12:30:31 pm
I just installed 3.6.9 final, and it now, after I listen to briefings, when I choose my weapons, and ship, the screens blend together, and the cursor makes permanent mouse trails...anyone? This has, so far only affected the Fall of EP campaign. I now have another error, the impact debris that are thrown out are blocky, and not defined. This bug is only on the Derelict campaign. Third bug: When I load FS2 through the launcher, I see the SCP screen, but when the video is supposed to show, it doesn't go black, it just plays the video over the SCP screen

C:\Games\FreeSpace2\fs2_open_3_6_9.exe -mod DerelictSCP,mediavps -spec -glow -jpgtga -mipmap -missile_lighting -dualscanlines -targetinfo -rearm_timer -ballistic_gauge -3dwarp -warp_flash -snd_preload

I am using 3.6.9 final. Launcher is V5.5a

Are you on Direct 3D or OpenGL? You should be on the latter. Look at the launcher's Video tab to check.

Indeed. My launcher somehow had set itself to D3D just recently and let me tell you, the performance hit was a nightmare. OpenGL is the way to go.

Nope, its OpenGL. But I still get the blocky debris, and the into vid error. The briefing error is gone though. Where can I get the latest launcher?

You appear to have the latest launcher.

What format are your videos in?

The movie problem should be fixed in newer builds, but not the official 3.6.9 set (wasn't fixed until after release).

I think that I remember someone else figuring out that the blocky debris issue was due to certain video drivers.  You don't list video card or driver version, but you might want to try upgrading your drivers and see if that helps any.
