Due to the skipping of a mission I decided to start over to see if I could recreate the bug. Well I ran into a new one. First I went into the campaign room and hit restart mission. Training was skipped automatically. So I exited to desktop, started FS2 and deleted the pilot I was using. I then created a new one and started the campaign again. Same thing. No training missions. Not that I really wanted to play them again but it seems to be a bug.

Uhhh, I don't think FSPort comes with training missions by default; you need to download them separately.
-
That's correct. You need to download the fsport-fs1_training pack.
-
Thats weird. I had them the first time I started the campaign which was sometime last week. Also had the 2 advanced training missions. FSport was installed using Turey's installer.
-
Well I figured it out. I extracted the mission files from FSport-missions.vp to look at the Faustus mission. When I restarted the game it picked up the freespace.fc2 from the freespace2\fsport\data folder. Extracting the missions from the FSport_fs1-training.vp into the same directory overwrote the freespace.fc2 file and fixed the problem.
OK now for the question part. Will it always pick up the right freespace.fc2 file (assuming nothing has been extracted from the vp) or was it just luck that the one from the fsport_fs1-training.vp was used the first time?
-
The file is supposed to be called fsport-fs1_training, not fsport_fs1-training. The first name takes precedence over fsport-missions; the second does not. You're not supposed to extract anything from the VP files.
-
Sorry typo on my part in the file name. I do have the correct one. So it looks for the file in alphabetical order or something so it always gets the right one first then? Well that's good.
How are you supposed to open the missions up in FRED2 to check on problems if you don't extract them?
-
Opening the missions to see how they work is fine. But some people have the bizarre idea that they have to extract the contents of the VP into their FreeSpace folder before running the mod.
