Hello,
I need help regarding the %§()$§@ Bomber/ FS AI, its driving me completly insane :doubt:
I have a very large (unarmed) base, surrounded by eight lousy turret mines. Then I have 3 Wings of 3 Bombers each (in 2 waves, makes 18 bombers total) which are supposed to directly attack the base from three different directions.. Each bomber group has additional fighter cover to draw away allied units.
But no matter what I do, those bomber assholes always drop their target (the base) and start shooting at the damn turret bases. I can sit and watch them fight, no one fires a torpedo at the base, it's not at all in danger.
I tried everything Ican think of :
- Attack goals in Wing Edit
- Attack goal in Event editor
- Ignore goals (bomber ignoring the turret platforms) in the wing editor
- and the event editor.
- Also I made the turret mines "protect ship" and "beam protect ship",
- AND I disabled dynamic goals for the bombers in the wingeditor AND the shipseditor.
I'm running out of ideas now. How do I get those suckers to attack the base and ignore the 8 lousy turret platforms.
We have another mission where a carrier in the center of a battlegroup (other ships surrounding the carrier) is supposed to attack by bombers too, there is the same problem. I can't get the bombers to attack their target.
Has someone an idea ? I hope that's not a code problem with the AI itself. Pls help.

Can no one help me ? :(

Sorry I replied the other day but just realized this posted to the wrong topic so I'm moving it here.
Well it looks like the directives are right. Do you have any orders for individual ships in the wings? If not the only other thing I can think of is some sort of table issue and that a little above my head.

Nope, on both suggestions :( Everythings correct there .This really pains me, I can remove the turret bases in this mission, but the other one where the carrier is under attack is simply impossible to do then when the AI isn't attacking it

Check that you haven't accidentally ignored or protected the carrier by mistake.

Tested on a bit similar setting with two flights of bombers using 'ignore target (new)' command that was set for the whole wing. Without it bombers engaged any ship that shot at them.. but with that 'initial order' enabled they flew straight at the defined target.

I didn't recognized that "ignore(New)" is also availabe in the initial orders, I used the old ignore-command , I only tried the new one as an event script (but didn't seemed to work there). I'll check, keep your fingers crossed :)
