Title: Twilight re-release preview
Post by: Ace on March 04, 2007, 06:01:18 am
Here's a small preview of something I've been slowly working on, a re-release of Twilight with the content brought on par with what is seen in Blackwater Operations. New command briefing animations, a few tweaks to the missions, fixing some of the problems with the existing mods and raising their quality.

Sweet!

But does this mean you've taken time away from BWO to do this?

Wraaagh! I'm torn!

So that's why you're not FREDding? :p

I never did finish the original, it went wonky on me somewhere in Formalhaunt.

why aren't you using the newer, nicer jump animation instead of the ancient one ?

Considering that it's set only in Ikeya...

How do the hell do you do the command briefing space/node animations?

In what 3D program? any plug-ins?

Some people prefer the classic jump animation to the newer, uglier one?

The new one isn't ugly, at least you can't see horrifying pixels all over the place with it.

Maybe because the "new" one doesn't look like a high resolution version of the FS node effect?

Just like how I hate the "new" flak effect that looks like orange blobs with debris instead of a firestorm?

If you don't mind me asking, will this correct some of the spelling mistakes (ie. Maruder should be Marauder, and Charlitan should be Charlatan).

Yes.

Looks good, along with Admiral Nelson's LS backgrounds and Nameplating (which I assume you're picking up) Twilight should be a really nice looking campaign.

Also, in the missions where you are supposed to be flying 'Kappa' for Laomedon Conclave, will you be using custom wing names?

That's the plan ;)

One of the reasons for this upgrade is due to all of the changes due to the SCP.

:eek2: sweet!

Uh, will you be fixing the crash in the first nebula mission, with the Creon (?) fighters? I never could play that mission, and debugs turned up nothing.

The Creon fighters are going to be replaced either with BWO's Persephone or another model Dark made that I hadn't found a use for until recently.

The campaign will not be using Lightspeed's backgrounds, but new Skyboxes.

Similarly I will most likely make new nameplates.

Also, things like the glowmaps mean that I can finally do some things I wanted to when first making the campaign. (i.e. more Shivan eye candy in the finale)

So are you planning on making it a little longer this time around, or is it still going to be set at 6 missions?

This is a re-release, not a remake.

Fair enough.

If you'd like someone to help with spelling/grammar corrections (and there's lots the original certainly needs :P  Just played through it today) PM me... this is short enough that I could easily fix them in a couple of hours.

Nice Subspace thingies. Better than having those TTCs.
