Title: FRED 2 mac?
Post by: Kopachris on March 05, 2007, 11:57:43 pm
Hey, my dad downloaded FS2_open for his computer, installed it, and burned it onto a DVD.  It came with a couple .dmg files for mac, but they don't include FRED 2, unlike the PC version.  Why not?  Where can I get FRED 2 for my mac?  Plz help.

Sadly there is no version of FRED2 for the Mac. The original software was PC only and we can never find enough coders to make it worth the effort of creating the cross-platform wxFRED.

Oh well...  I'll just have to use my brother's computer.

If you have an intel Mac, you could either use BootCamp or Parallels to run Fred2 in windows without going to another computer.

My dad got this PowerBook G4 a couple of months before the MacBook Pro came out.  He just got himself a new HP Pavillion zv9000t or something like that for Christmas and handed the PowerBook down to me.  So in other words, no Intel processor.  I have, however been throwing around the idea of buying the insides (motherboard, processor, airport, etc.) of a MacBook Pro and putting them in my PowerBook.  Then it'd be like my dad's car (my dad's car is a "Corvette in disguise".  It's a Firebird with a Corvette engine in it.  My PowerBook would be a MacBook in disguise).  My brother got the old-ish HP Pavillion zv5000 that my dad got when he started truck-driving.
