the title says it all. whats a typhon's top, unmodded, exteme limit speed. also, i messed up on getting the variable. its supposed to, every time you destroy a subsystem, it caps the top speed of it going around the waypoints by 1. but i can get it to work right. here: (p.s. the mission is still evolving. and i ask you, once we have figured this out, plz delete the file, to avoid a potential problem later with the campaign, and remember, this is currently a designer's playground level that im still working on.)
-
Welcome to teach a man how to fish time. :D
I assume you already have FRED2_open up and running. If so place a Typhon in your mission. Select it and go to the ships editor. Press the Table Info button.
Find the $Max Velocity: option. You'll have 3 figures which are the velocity the ship has in the X,Y and Z directions. The last of those is the figure you were after.
If you don't have FRED2_Open set up or you need the top speed for a lot of ships you should extract ships.tbl from root_fs2.vp with VPView.
-
erm.......... well, karajama, you just put that up while i was editing, and also, i dont HAVE vpview yet, i haven't even finished modeling a ship, and until then dad wont lemme download any more modding programs.
-
Then do the thing with FRED2_Open. You should have that at least :)
-
Or you could just do it the really easy way and look it up in the Wiki. http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/GVD_Typhon
-
Ah but that won't work with Mods though? :D
It is a good idea though :)
-
I DONT HAVE FRED2_OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!
-
15, without the engines maxed.
If you don't have FRED2_Open, it comes with the SCP, which you can install using Turey's installer, I have a link in my siggy in which I describe how to do this. Your dad won't let you download any more modding programs, hmmm, right...
Use 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org) to unpack the attached file... problem solved.

I DONT HAVE FRED2_OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!
And how were we supposed to know that?
-
i've told you guys a million times!!!!!!
and will the 7-zip or whatever work with winzip?
-
->Titan: You would have much easier time if you managed to convince your parents that new programs won't kill the computer... I know what you're going through, been there, done that.
Obviously you could do what I did... that is, simply stop asking them what you can install and what you can't, but I really cannot recommend that in the end. If your parents aren't completely tech illiterate, perhaps you could ask them why they won't let you slap three files into your FS2 directory (FS2_Open executable, new Launcher and FRED2_Open), which would essentially make it possible for you to start fredding for FS2_Open even if you don't have MediaVP's installed.
...that is, if your computer isn't physically unable to run FS2_Open in the first place...

my dad has a job PROGRAMMING computer, he's the one who hacked into freespace to make it so that the collosus would win in their finest hour.

Many of us have jobs programming computers. That doesn't mean we're paranoid about installing new software, just a bit more cautious.
As for making the Colli win, 90 seconds with VPView and Notepad and I can do the same thing.
If your dad is a FreeSpace fan, I say introduce him to this site (Specifically the FreeSpace Open screenshots threads) and let the wonders of FreeSpace Open convince him that we don't mean you or your computer any harm.
-
If he did change Their Finest Hour so that you could win he must have already have VPView (or equivalent) installed. :D
Check C:\ for a folder called VPVIEW32.
-
no, he hacked with note pad or something, and this was only a week after he even heard of freespace.
he could care less about video games...... *sigh*
-
and will the 7-zip or whatever work with winzip?
Yes, it will work with .zip, .rar, .7z, ... .iso, .lzh, .001, .arj, .bz2, .cab, .cpio, .deb, .gz, .rpm, .tar, .z ...Supported formats
Currently 7-Zip supports the following archive formats:
7z
ZIP
GZIP
TAR
BZIP2
RAR (only browsing and decompression)
CAB (only browsing and decompression)
ARJ (only browsing and decompression)
Z (only browsing and decompression)
CPIO (only browsing and decompression)
RPM (only browsing and decompression)
DEB (only browsing and decompression)
LZH (only browsing and decompression)
SPLIT (only browsing and decompression)
CHM (only browsing and decompression)
EDIT: And no, 7-zip does not take over your file associations unless you tell it to via Tools>Options. But, you can right-click on any file, go down to "7-zip" and open it. If you mean does WinZip open .7z files, it does not appear so from WinZip's site. I know the latest version of WinRAR does.
BTW, if your dad has problems with 7-zip, tell him that it is an open source software from SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net). If he doesn't like it, he could join the 7-zip programming team, and help out. :)

..........

What does his business do? If it's programming, what kinds of programs do they make? What are the product names?
-
...........
-
The max velocity of a Typhon is 15 m/s, according to VPVIEW.
-
ok, and i decided to do a much simpler but still somewhat rewarding setup. and NO, im NOT telling you! :D
-
Dude, I'm sorry (and sorry for the off-topic) but every time you just HAVE to make a point that you're an 11-year-old kid who's parents don't let him download anything at all unless they scrutinize it first, and every time I have to laugh. :D

Cobra

Shaddap. :P
Though apparently I WAS asking for it. :nervous:

I don't have a job programming computers and I did that. :nervous:
-
Yeah, I've fiddled with notepad once or twice, to fix something that FRED for some reason wouldn't touch...
-
Anyoe here who hasn't edited Their Finest Hour raise their hands!
:nervous:
-
Me.
:nervous:

*Raises hand*
:nervous:

Shut up, damn it, we don't give a **** if you've edited some mission or another just because you didn't like the outcome!
-
TrashMan does (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,45859.msg941757.html#msg941757) :p

*raises hand*
:pimp: It looked obvious to me that the colossus will die at some point, I mean, in every game/movie/story involving somebody or something on the good guys' side that is an all-powerful-invincible killing machine involves it dying at some point by a stupid or clever cause. (like Anakin in star wars III...he didn't die, but he still counts).
I learned long ago to expect the unexpected. :pimp: ::)

The outcome reamins the same dude....allmost. The Collie still dies - but it takes the Sath with it. Now THAT is a heroic death...not just standing there being a big target.
-
my dad has a job PROGRAMMING computer, he's the one who hacked into freespace to make it so that the collosus would win in their finest hour.
Apparently it doesn't take too much programming experience to do that.
-
1. Move the Collie closer so it can fire
2. Give Collie better weapons or tone down Saths (that or reduce his hull integrity)
and colie wins. Of course, step 2 is too much IMHO..
-
programming? who needs programming if you got FRED2 and VPVIEW?
unless that counts as programming :nervous:. i wouldent know, i never came close to it
-
FREDding is almost programming; it is in one sense programming freespace using its language, I guess...

Or just make it invincible with a sexp... :D

How about special hull strength? (300%?)
-
die old, useless thread! DIE! die! and stay died! :P this thing is like 5 months old
-
Your sense of time sucks, partly because you can't read the timestamps on the posts. :P
Though it would be useful to request lockage.
-
Why? This thread is amongst the last holdouts of spam in the forums. After they locked the other thread, this is all we have left!

Yay. 's my fav. smiley. :D

Hmm?
