Wow, looks like they're making a whole new game. But I thought Outrage or Intercrap owned the rights to the Descent series?

EDIT: Woops, I found it.

Heh heh, I guess they saw what trouble came out even with the mentioning of Freespace 3 that they skipped it and started on Decent 4. Good move. But I doubt it'll go anywhere. Like the whole Ghostbusters 3D game. Good beggining. Then it died.

yup! hey, give me an engine that accepts high polycounts and intersecting polys, and i'll do the same  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
mines more optimized anyway, nah  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
oh, Steak, have you seen my Arcadia (harlock one, not FS2 one)? It's somewhere around in this forum and the modding forum (render and ingame pics respectively). that's one of the models I the most proud of  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Good point, I guess that's one of the reasons you love IW2  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) When you think about it, in terms of detailed modelling, doing that for FS2 is like modelling inside a tiny little box. Now you have the world to play with  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) Yes, I've seen the Arcadia, I love it.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Techno music = gheyness.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Seriously, I just turn that crap off and let WinAMP run in the background.

Well, um... Venom? Iwar2 will let you intersect polys AND have high polycounts. Which means...

POUM POOUM POOOUM!!!

I might have a way to make the Arcadia work. At full resolution.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

what engine are they using? if they're making their own, that would make sense. the game would run smoother with 4000+ polys per ship on a user made engine than 2000+ polys per ship on a corporate one because there is no hacking or copying protection to slow it down.

That would be neat   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) i WANT to have my personnal arcadia in Iwar2, that would make the game more fun, a real pirate ship   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)Oh, and about modding iwar2, i will probably once I'm done with OtT (hopefully this summer for the first chapter, and after that apart from a couple models and some CBanims, it will be mainly be mission designer job so I'd be quite free then  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) ).

ooh!ooh! Me too, me too!
I can draw some in my free time (no RL, no UT projects +no campaign projects)
Note: I probably won't be able to draw many, but, if you need a couple, drop me a line, and I'll join the project  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)!
I really liked D1, almost bought D3, but instead got FS2 (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
Anyways, Techno rules!

This looks quite neat.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) So you guys have decided to put together the whole game yourselves? We need someone to do this type of thing for FS3...  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

The D3 Techno music is a mixed bag IMHO; some tracks are great while others aren't so impressive. Overall I think the original Descent had some of the best music.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

drop over to descent4.net and check it out.

Dont badger me for details because i dont know :P

The team is pretty big though..so FS3 would be a pretty goddam massive project indeed.

yeah, some d1 musics were cool  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
I like a lot D2 musics too, tho, I have only the OEM version unfortunately, but I often listen to the musics ( I love games with soundtracks that can be read on any CD player  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) )

D2 soundtracks were what got me into Industrio-Tech stuff in the first place.

They were very good.
