Hello everybody,
I've downloaded and installed the Freespace2Setup from http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/freespace/FreeSpace2Setup.exe and now I get the error message "Freespace2/Fred2 cannot be run from a drive root directory!".
I have already found this thread http://www.game-warden.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-3266.html that says and copied everything into C:\Games\Freespace2 , but I still got that message. :(
Could you pleeeease help me? I already wanted to play Freespace2 ~ a year ago, but had a problem. *crying*
(edit)oh by the way: I've also run FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.exe and it tells me, that everything is up-to-date, if you need to know this. And I've also tried to start it as admin - still doesn't work.

Try deleting your launcher6.ini file and running the launcher again.

hum.. the only file with the word "launcher" in it that I have:
UpdateLauncher.exe
looks like am I missing something, but where to I get that from? and why? :ick:
edit: I've started the FreeSpaceOpenInstaller again.. and now I've told it to "install it new", or how that is called (first time, I've choosen the upper thing, maybe thats the problem :D  )
-
That would explain it. The installer should have installed a file called launcher.exe which you would then run to play the game.

Yup, I've got it.. a big thank you and a sorry for my foolishness. :D

Not a problem. It's a little hard to get working sometimes but I'm sure you'll find it was worth it once you start playing. :)
