at this situation
-
Stop. Now. Youve made your point, now you're only making a spectacle.
-
I'm not the one locking every voice of decent
-
It's not the only voice of dissent. There's already a thread for this purpose (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,46119.msg941042.html#new). Two actually (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,46112.msg941026.html#new)
Stop trying to be a ****ing martyr.
-
in the other threads it was said it's only a handfull of people who are upset by this, I was tring to actualy produce some numbers to back up my point that it is a massively unpopular move.
-
If they have an issue, they can post like everyone else. You dont need to make a poll.
-
you won't be able to tell the actual number of people who have an issue if you don't make a poll.
-
And you cant accurately evaluate the situation with a poll who's only choices are:
I love it
I hate it
Youre an idiot
What about the people who want Gen Disc on the bottom but dont like the split? What about the people who like the split but not the location? Polls can be easily worded to show innacurate information. But you know that.
-
a positive choice, a negative choice and a neutral choice(I was stupid for asking the question). how is that a bad poll.
ok tell you what if that's your only problem with it, change the options to what ever you want.
and why wasn't it up for debate, why didn't you ask us? or mention it.
-
There has been debate for nearly 3 months in the support forum. (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,45065.0.html) Why didn't you participate?

It's not a positive and a negative and a neutral. It's an all for, all against, or insult the user.
-
cause I didn't know it was going on, I don't go to the support forum unless I have a problem. we used to have the groganards forum for this sort of stuff, but that disappeared a long time ago.
and like I said, if you have a better set of poll questions, change it, I was trying to get a boolean yes/no from people, but what ever.
-
that link doesn't work...
-
Why do you not have access to the feedback subforum of the support forum?
In any case I'm not responsible for yet another lapse in the administration's doings.
-
you know I think a spam/argue forum would probably be a good idea, but A) existing content should not have been moved there en mass, and B) the normal gendesc should have been left alone. with this down hear my work flow is totally ****ed up the most visited single forum is as far away as posable from the second third and fourth.
right now what I'd be happy with (not that I expect to be made happy, just mentioning my proposed course of action so it doesn't seem like all I do is say "you" (not you but other people in general) are wrong) is things to be reverted and a proper discussion about what to do be held, my biggest problem with this was that there was no comunity feed back, but did that already happen and I was simply excluded from it?
-
It sounds like it was discussed in Support, but most people don't go there (or at least I don't) unless they have a problem, so it is kinda unfair but... whatev...
-
Well, who's at fault here? Is it
A) The small group of people who have expressed an interest in the future of the community and trying to change it for the better.
B) The group of members who dashed to the news thread to scream and rant about their postcount, argue about who's more valuable than who, complain about how it takes them almost two seconds to scroll down to the general discussion forums now, about how the moderators suck, or to threaten to leave HLP for good. but certainly not to put together any kind of coherent discussion on the subject. Nossir, everyone who objects to the thread seems to be interested in getting what they want, and damn the consequences or anyone else who disagrees.
C) The administrator who responded to this storm by (ironically) moving the discussion to the very forum that many of the people objected to. But then, It's not like anybody in the thread demonstrated the ability to hold a proper discussion on the subject.
After reading all 8 pages of that drek, I'm tempted to just leave HLP for a few days until people have calmed down about the extra five calories they'll burn a day.
-
@red:
actualy it looks like it was discussed in a subforum of support that most people don't have access to, or I assume most people, if I was only a hand full of people left out then all I'd have is personal outrage form being excluded, which is relitively manageable, and the specific anger from haveing the flow of the forums split up poorly (IMO).
-
I'm pretty upset about this as well, mostly due to the rationale behind it which seems to be utterly backwards.
If you want to promote the sourcecode project as the focus of HLP, then promote it instead of some social engineering scheme by re-arranging forums.

Is that the same thread we had in grognards last October? The link doesn't work for me either.
-
Nope. link not working, and I actually have been browsing through the support forum and no, never found any discussion on this.
-
Oh, for ****s sake, stop acting like spoiled children!
When it changed first it was 'I have to roll the mouse button down!'
Now it's killing the community, somewhat an oxymoron considering the entire ****ing community is obsessed with creating page upon page of whinge about it.
It's changed, it's the admin's decision, take it up with them but all this **** throwing for no reason whatsoever is pissing me off no end.
-
I really don't know what you are *****ing about Bob? We made some changes, so what? Learn to deal with it.
