You can triangulate from the location of certain stars... I have no clue how, but that's how the old sailors used to navigate... It would work in space too, I believe Apollo 13 used the stars to recalibrate their nav computer... (read the book).

Oh... I thought you meant a point in outer space...  Put something identifying on your car, ie, temporarily tie a ribbon to the antenna.

Some cars also have a "panic" button on their key fob, that honks the horn and flashes the lights...

Electronic locking systems usually produce lightflash and noise when pressing the button in the key.

For older cars, I guess you could rely on carrying the licence plate number with you. That usually is unique... ;)
Or go with jr2 approach and decorate your car a bit to make it unique. Like toiletpaper in the windshiled wipers.

Here's what you need to put in your car: a quietly beeping buzzer and a digital number display counting towards zero. When it rolls around it starts from the beginning (9999 for example).

Then follow the sirens and look where the restricted area and bomb squad is... :drevil:

Not if you write www.hard-light.net on it... well, even if it did appear on everyone else's cars, that'd be a good thing.  A really good thing.  :)

Write "THIS IS SPARTA" on the back of your car with soap.

Or put "RED SAUCE ON PASTA" all over your car...

Config your targetting system that way that your flight computer think your car is a missile.

You need 6 points of reference plus a source-point, so 7 points of reference to navigate in all three dimensions. The start point needs 3, as does the end point.
