I'm starting to run close to the PM limit (which I believe is 100) and want to export all my PMs to a text file or something before I delete them. Is there any way to do this, apart from copying them one by one?
-
Nope. Only admins who have direct access to mysql database could do that. But even then format of text output probably wouldn't please you.
-
Heh, heh...
And I was going to ask if there was a way to export your posts, leaving the links intact (the ones to the posts), to a single HTML file for easy searching... lol fat chance.
Although... is there a way to merge two HTML files into one?
-
Well, I found another way to do it, by just saving the entire HTML pages. My PMs are all contained in eight such pages and they seems to look okay when stored locally.
-
Hmm... Did you use HTML (single file), HTML (complete), or MHT format?

There's a print button on the same row of buttons as reply button, you can save that into a html file. You can merge multiple files into one with a text or html editor.

Yeah, but what about the links? IIRC, they disappear in the Print mode.

I suspected as much, thx for confirming. :)

Links are included.

BTW, I can't find the print button... I even searched for the word "Print" on the page.. nothing. Of course, I know its there for Forum Thread viewing, but apparently not in PM Message view or Show posts view.
-
That's right. Can't have everything.
-
OK, who do I beg?
-
SMF developers would be a good try.

Out of curiousity, what is wrong with "File-->Print" or Right Click-->Print?
-
The print mode changes the formatting of the page to remove a number of the images and formatting, making the page more content-centered (so you aren't having to save the entire layout along with your PM archive).
I can't find it either. I don't know how close I am to the limit, either; where is that specified?
-
People must use PM's for different things than I do, then, carry on :)
