workin on the engines
-
Wow,Tùrin!
Under these circumstances..I assume the SWC has a future! :D
-
Yes, everything is occurring as I have forseen it...
-
Not wanting to lessen your work, but what happened to Karma's gorgeous Corellian corvette ?

It looked great back when it was first created, but doesn't currently achieve the level of detail we're hoping to get by the time this mod is released, both in the mesh and the texturing. We also don't seem to have a copy around that was ever in a finished state, and rather than try to fix what we do have, we're just starting over.

well, that part's done.
time to start adding detail!!
-
The img doesn't work.

my bad, i guess i overlooked a little slash. you may edit it from your post.
thanks btw.
-
Turambar, add the damn radar dish already. :P And the turrets, and detail on the front arc of the corvette, and some details on the engines... Other than that, it's good. ;)

No, I will leave it as it is, Tùrin! :P

Whoa, I think he's saving most of that for later because they're all going to be submodels. Just a guess though.

Dun dun dun.
Looking great dude.

-
I Like...
Actually I like the corvette as well. Great work. I'd help, but unfortunately my modelling skils are somewhat limited (especially in terms of greebling).
There's an auto-greebling plugin for max 8 somewhere...
-
Turambar ... can you do us a favour :) Use a dark grey material , or something like Brand x?:) The white is blinding :) Can't see to much of the nice details in those screens :((
-
(http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/1363/vetteei0.jpg)
mind blowing greebles.
mostly blowing my mind trying to make them accurate and keep them clean simultaneously, but its moving along.
i havent done much in the past week because ive been sick and busy with work.
-
Holy crap, that's looking good. Renders are looking better too. Can't wait to see that thing in game.
-
(http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/3337/vettetk1.jpg)
not much to show, im currently cleaning the model, detatching the details so i can make them detail boxes, and really dreading doing the engines
-
Fantastic, she's spot on!
-
yay!!!
that ship is cool. well done.
glad to see the SWC has made another step ahead!!!
-
Greebles out the wazoo.
Stupid question, but how many polies? That looks like it's really gonna eat up frames.
-
(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/8283/vetteve8.jpg)
as of right now, attaching everything, its 13282 tris
however, 5000 of that is in little details, which are already separated from the main model to be used as detail boxes.
-
I would concentrate my attentions on as many ships as possible rather than create HTL models.
-
we're very quality-oriented, so rushing to have models ready fast isnt likely.
also, i just stepped into hell.

-
Lookin' good man. Those engines deserve a lot of special care, I know you'll do them right.
-
Yeah it's looking good.
It looks pretty much like the model they have in SWG.
On a side note, it was hard taking that ***** and her three escort gunships down with five people.
-
Can I scab your dual turbolaser turret models for the gunship? The single barrel lasers I can't use, but it'd make sense that the CEC would use the same weapons on two ships so closely related.
-
sure, i guess
what format would you like?
also, why dont i have one of those nifty SWC logos
-
It's for people who have internal access on the SWC forums, which currently doesn't mean anything since no one has been using it, and we use IRC for our internal stuff mostly, but now that we're actually getting a sizeable staff going, I'm working on getting those for you guys. You'll have one soon I hope.
-
sure, i guess
what format would you like?
3ds if possible, but I van convert from whatever if need be.
-
been out of it for awhile
here we go

Shaping up very nicely
-
Amazing. Looks like you've done some engine work, be sure to get some rear shots when there's something nice to put up. I like how I disappear and everyone seems to be getting back to work on stuff again. Are you all trying to tell me something?
-
They're saying "Get off my ass and let me work." :P
-
(http://i7.tinypic.com/54mhjzl.jpg)
in-game of the LOD-0 mesh with none of the details, guns, or other important things, and the absolute worst textures ever.
mostly, i just wanted to see if it would work at all.
-
It looks like it shades rather nicely. Amazing, can't wait to see it firing back, with textures and all.
-
ok, the slow, painful UVmapping process has begun!

-
w00t for corvettes.

work continues
comments and suggestions?
-
I find it impressive...keep it up! :D
-
Try to fill in some of those gaps, either by moving the UV blocks together or putting small, minor details in between them
-
What IS Uv mapping? is it the way you make it so that one texture works for the whole ship, but still with lots of greebles? like in the texturing tutorial?
-
It means binding the model's surface's certain UV co-ordinate to texture's XY-coordinate, so that the rendering engine knows to show correct part of the texture on the corresponding part of the model.
UV co-ordinates of a model are simply a system of identifying each location of the model's surface individually, like XY-co-ordinates mark the locations on a plane, XYZ-co-ordinates locations on space, and XYZT in time and space (or four space dimensions, whichever you prefer...).
AFAIK it is perhaps the slowest process on making a model presentable, because you practically need to move each face individually to a suitable place on the UV map... and the more complex mesh, the more faces there are.
