Title: ATI Smartshaders
Post by: redsniper on April 01, 2007, 07:58:48 pm
So, after a bit of googling I've come to believe that my X1900 with Omega 3.8.something drivers no longer supports smarthshaders. Is this true? and if so, is there any way around this? I kinda want to play FSO with hdrish... :blah:

Smartshaders were removed from the drivers almost a year ago. You can switch to the 6.3 drivers to use them, but those are practically ancient now.

On the topic of shaders, whats good for viewing them? I've got a cheap radeon 9250 and I finally have support for shaders.

I don't think a 9250 will cut it... the one in my old computer sure didin't.

Hmmm I do know some shaders work for sims 2 (you have to enable them with a cheat, the blurry image one(god that was horrible on the eyes) and the grainy look (which looks quite nice for snapshots)).  However Max doesn't seem to show normal textures.  Probably hit or miss.
Waiting for the 8600s to come out.
