Thank You, Jim
-
Why? :wtf: Did you register a new account? If you just don't plan to visit anymore, one more inactive account won't make a difference when the already inactive accounts can be counted with four digits.
-
It may be the account of someone who is already a member here, and doesn't want a dupe?
-
And they don't want to have some fun with an Alt Nick?
-
Guys, just look at his previous posts. It seems he was struggling with an installation problem he couldn't solve, and gave up.
Maybe you could help the poor chap out instead of speculating. :)
-
If the installers don't work, then don't use them.
What do you think people did a year ago when there was no installers?
-
Seems the vast majority of computer users prefer to have a program install their applications / games rather than do that manually... it's like they don't enjoy the wonder of compiling programs and creating directory trees themselves or something ::)
Weren't the installers taken offline because of bandwidth issues?
-
Some of them were. IIRC, Turey used up 4.5 TB one month.
-
Sad part is, Turey fixed the Installer... he made a typo when he told it to download "Root_fs2.vp" instead of "root_fs2.vp"... can one of the admins e-mail and ask him to give it one more shot?
EDIT: karajorma posted a fix for this, basically, replace the bad Root_fs2.vp (size: 0) with the correct root_fs2.vp... it's here somewheres.
EDIT2: Jim West, give me your snail mail; I'll mail hip63's DVD to you; that will work (at least, it always has...).
PS Don't worry about shipping or whatnot, just give me your address, I'll take care of that (shipping). :)
-
Thanks for all the support. I'm having a problem on my end and was just trying to save space in the server. I cant seem to download any large file at this point. It cuts of about four or five mega bytes. The problem is my IP. Jr2 Ill take you up on that offer. I really appreciate it. Jim

np ;) BTW, in the future for other downloads, use www.freedownloadmanager.org or Bittorrent (I prefer the Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net) client, which requires Sun Java JRE (http://www.fsoinstaller.com/getjre.html).)
:)
Anyways, with dial-up, the above makes it a PRITA, but still possible... (as opposed to impossible). If you have high-speed, it makes it almost enjoyable as you watch the download speed climb, (usually), instead of steadily sinking like you're used to.

K, I've just mailed the package today via USPS...
-
I love you guys (in a completely not-gay way). :)

I'm confused...
I read this thread several times... But...
But...
Did it actually had a happy ending?
People can be nice?
:eek2:
I need to retreat under my rock to think about this for a while...

I know! Somebody mailing a DVD at their own expense? Such a thing goes against the very principles of society and indeed against capitalism itself!

I blame Ubuntu for starting the fad (https://shipit.ubuntu.com/).
-
FYI, if anyone was wondering, looks like everything's
...Just checking to make sure you got it. If so, great! ;)
