Hello,
I don't know if I'm right here but... let me post this anyway:
I'm in the need of having two one ships modelled (and textured) for a FS2-mod - name is "Workings of the Warp"...
The ships are is a new super-destroyer, the SD Tzulan, and a new cruiser, the SC Qwor...
my first concept drawing are added to this post... (sry for their looks but I'm no artist)
more info on these will be provided...
and all to naturaly the credit for the models goes to the modeler...

The Tzulan looks alot like an Ravna
-
Uhm call it SC Qwer
Uhm the destroyer is not...a destroyer. It's between a Superdestroyer and a Juggernaut...
-
that would be either SSD or SPD.
-
SSD Tzulan than...
-
that would be either SSD or SPD.
No. An SPD is dedicated to planet destruction, so it's not a battleship. SSD is the appropriate specification.
-
take a look at the lucifer and tell me if its not even a little dedicated to planet destruction.
-
Well it's not SPD, it's SD [SSD more accurately, however]. The Lucy doesn't really seem to me as a 'dedicated' planet destroyer, more of a super-battleship to me. It could blow planets up but it can also kill destroyers. If you're saying that an SPD is anything that is capable of destroying (attacking?) a planet, I find it a little stupid as many things can blow planets up (including cruisers with beam cannons). I guess it could be classed as an SPD if it fits in with your point of view.
-
or mabye SSAPD? (shivan super all purpose destroyer)
but that sounds like something out of DEM.
-
SSD then. :P
Or else the Sathanas would be something like SJFMSNBCABUFBUS (Shivan Jug For Making SuperNovas But Can Also Be Used For Blowing Up Ships)
-
I would classify it as a light Juggernaut, or a supercarrier(what do we knoe about it's load capacity?).
-
Doesn't exactly look like a Carrier.... Mmmh...
I'd stick with SSD.
-
Mabye SASD? Shivan Advanced Super Destroyer?
SFS? (Shivan Flagship)
Realisticly though, lets look as some ships:
Name/length (approx)/class
GTVA Collossus (sp)/6k/ Superdestroyer.
SJ Sath/5k/Juggernaut
GTCa Warlock/4.8k/supercarrier
GTD Hecate/2-3k/Destroyer
EASD Nemesis/5k/Superdestroyer
SPD Vindeshack (sp)/some obscene length/Planet destroyer.
So as we can see from this hastily-constructed table, the major difference is between Destroyer and Super-Destroyer. The only Difference IMHO between a SuperDest and a Juggernaut is Firepower and Armour, not size.
So depending on Armour, weapons, and importance in the campaign (Is is like a Sath? like a pawn that gets flown out every mission by the Shivans?) Because IMHO SuperDestroyers are more suited to the One-of-a-kind-blow-ya-head-off kind of ship as opposed to the Big-but-cheaply-mass-produced-in-china-but-still-blows-ya-head-off-though-not-as-well-as-the-other-kind-of-ship.
-
the NNGTVSAT (neo-neo-galatic-terran-vasudan-shivan-alliance-thing) disagrees.
superdestroyers are bigger, better, and more powerful. destroyers are smaller, weaker, and easily taken down by 2 wings of ursas.

The Tzulan will be the "central ship" (maybe the flagship too) of the Shivan armada which crosses the GTVA space in "Workings of the Warp"; it bearly enters combat but if it does ... well, GTVA goes not manage to bring it down... but that will be rather since it will never operate alone (there will be three other destroyers and a whole fleet of cruiser guarding it)
It should not have as may guns as a sath... outlined are just three heavier beam cannons; one BFRed (Sath-arm-turret) in this "main gun pit" at the front and two LRed (Lilith-main-; Ravana-front-turrets), one at the rear above the engines and one on the upper side of the "hangar pod"
five smaller beam cannons (SRed) are outlined too: three at the middle of the "claws" around the "pit" and two to each side on the ships main body
- is that enough punch for a SSD?
-
It would be very cool if it had so many beams that it never stopped firing (like the Diablo, when one beam warms down, two more fire) ;)
-
Well, Orph3u5, the Inferno Lucifer can rely on 3 frontal BFReds. They are a bit exaggerated, who knows, but the firepower needed to bombard a planet isn't limited to beams like the LRed.
I have to say that this warship carries on with the Shivan philosophy. Since they don't pay too much attention of losses and defending all flanks of warships, they mount uber cannons on the front while we know that the GTVA has always tried to mount defensive armaments all over the hull of a ship(err there are some exceptions...).
-
give it its own custom beam type like axem did with the lamia. originality :D

maybe .. but !warning spoiler!:
The Tzulan does have a lot of other goodies apart from ordinary beams --- the campaign is called "workings of the warp" for a reason you know
-
So it can rebuild/stabilize/collapse/sever/create jump nodes?

So it can rebuild/stabilize/collapse/sever/create jump nodes?
Who told you that!? - Now I know who stole these pages of the concept! Give them back to me at once!
-
No, I read the small print.
-
That basically is the same.
So, do we have modellers for these two ships?!?
-
Not yet...
-
Edit the title of this thread. Write "REQUEST". Hopefully, someone will notice it ;)
-
People rarely do requests. I just wanted a CONVERSION of a ready-made Aldo ship, but no one even replied (1 person did but didn't follow up on it)
-
So I've to approach it like this one:
"...if I could make it more liguistically suitable to the Drazi they might be open to signing it [...] Well, they don't like to say 'we commit' to anything. They prefer, 'the universe, through us, agrees to.'"
- G'Kar, "The Paragon of Animals" (Babylon 5, Season 5, Episode III)
-
The Tzulan issue is off the table now... Since there was no one who wants to give it a try the team of the WotW has chosen an existing vessel to be used...
About the Qwor... dunno ... will see...
topic can be locked and dumped away
-
Why dump the Tzulan? Why not just dump the Qwor, the Tzulan is an SSD, so it would be more prominent in the story, wouldn't it?

'cause the WotW-team found a vessel suiting the role of the Tzulan as good as my suggestion and this one already exisits...
name and purpose stay but we are not working with an own model and tbl-entry
the Qwor is another thing... we have yet not found a present shivan ship to replace it... (I'm against the SCs form Inferno and we already got the Lamia)
we can not wait for a model which will never come... so the Qwor might be dropped too to allow us to speed up the development...
-

You mean the Lamia... it is a beautiful warship. I don't like one thing: the name....because of two reasons:
1) It's a female name, so I'm forced to use names of demonettes and such if I want to keep at leastpseudo-canon naming convetion.
2) I already use that name(Lahmia, that should be the correct form)and I now have to replace it with something else...
What's wrong with Inferno cruisers? The new Lilith is interesting, as well as many Shivan ships from Inferno SCP(you have to wait...lol).

well,
the Raguel is just ugly... looks like a shivan barrel
and the Abel looks really it's predecessors... I don't what to have it right along with cains and liliths...
and we already have 2 inferno ships... that should be enough for a campaign set 18 months after Capella
