Title: Who plays pool...

I bet you came inside this topic expecting something else completely then what you see below....do you think it would be cool playing this type of variation.

Nah, ever hit something floating in water? resistance stops it, shifting waves bring it practically back to where it started from.

depends if the balls are specially designed for water use (scaled "skin", low resistance factor etc)

Only time I have played pool was on the pool tables in Deus Ex; they should try this water-pool instead... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

BTW does anyone happen to know the currency of those notes?

LOL did that game also have pool tables? That is about the only really famous game that I have never gotten a chance to try...

Although in DX I was hoping to get extra skill points after winning a pool game (against myself (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)), but it didn't give me anything. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/frown.gif) I therefore got angry that it had wasted my time and threw a rocket launcher on the nearest guy (which apparently hurt him pretty badly (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)), after which everyone in the place got scared and ran away. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

yeah, there was one pool table in the second level, I hoped i would have some item if I put all the balls in the holes ( this game sounds so rude  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif) ), but no, nothing, so I blew up everything in the room  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) ( I love Duke3D, can destroy more stuff than in red faction, and, yes, you could destroy walls, sometimes. pff, RF didn't invent anything )

RF, so far as I know was the first fully 3d engine that supported freeform, in-engine geometry creation.

With some work, you can make a level completly geomodable. RF geomodable zone have to be set as destructible to so it works. Not much difference there.
Ok, it wasn't real 3D, but it DID look good when it came out. Don't forget it's a least 3/4 years old.

The difference is in the methodology. RF uses actual geometry creation on the fly (IE the actual structure of the level changes). Build  never changes a level's structure, it just moves objects, essentially. The differences are trivial on the surface, but complex in the implementation.
