Was playing through Sync again with SCP 3.6.9 and all the latest mediavps. Had no problems at all until I got to mission E2M5, which is the first red alert mission. I looked at the file and its the one where you finally find the Persistence in the lost systems. As soon as the mission starts, I see a moment of space then instantly everything outside goes to black. I can see my HUD but apparently can't fire weapons (no sound effect and gun energy doesn't drop). Persumably the mission is still running as the dialogue keeps going. Anybody have this problem before or know how to get around it? Thanks!
-
I've dealt with it before. Seemed to be something with the location you warp in (I think it's that mission, anyway). If you edit the mission and remove the red alert you should be fine. Alternatively, use a 3.6.7 build for that mission.
-
Removing the red-alert from the mission worked. Weird....
Thanks!

:welcome:
The 10 posts says it all. I'm sure somebody got to it before me... :nervous:

Click his (or whoever you're getting ready to fry) user name. Then click "Show the last posts of this person" on the bottom. Then you will have links to their posts in whatever threads they have posted in.

ah. gotcha ;)

He probably posted "a lot" in what has now become "The Pub" and therefore those post's no longer count towards his postcount. :p

I've been counterpointed yet again!

Old account that I couldn't get the password for.
-
why not just click "forgot password"
-
Does it matter? To get the password for an old account emailed to you, the old email account has to still exist. It doesn't, so I had to make a new one.
-
Hmph. Was the old e-mail account free? (Y!, MSN/Hotmail, AOL...) You might be able to re-activate teh old account by using "forgot password" & answer your "secret question", then use the account to reactivate your old HLP account... If you wanted to.
-
What was your old user name? I could easily merge the two.
-
...You might be able to re-activate teh old account ...
I'm :eek2: I can't believe I let that slip!! :nervous:
Must have been really tired. Hmph.

don't beat your self up...i do it all teh time....
:tumbleweed: i rest my case...

Same problem here although in my case it's extended a bit by the fact that the campaign doesn't have the new SCP graphics. The ships are not remodeld and Lightspeeds nebulas also don't work, but back to the big problem.
I understand that you guys made it work by editing it. Now, would it be too much to ask how exactly. I'm a bit new to SCP and have no idea what you guys use to make this wonderful campaigns and eye-candy. :nervous:
-
Oy.
You CAN use the remodeled ships, just activate the mediavps, and no one is going to redo the Hedetet.
-
Ok, but doesn't the launcher consider the mediaVPs as a mod. Then how do i activate two mods at the same time with the launcher because it eludes me?
-
You activate two mods at a time using FS2's multimod abilities.
If you're on Windows this is very easy. Simply create a text file in your Sync folder called mod.ini. Cut and paste this into it
[multimod]
secondarylist = mediavps;
And you're done. When you run the launcher it will see that file and the launcher will know you want to run more than one mod at a time. There are more details in my FAQ's installing mods page.

Thanks a lot!

I know 'tis an old topic but im having the exact same problem. tried the media VP thing and it didnt work. since i know nothing about fred can someone just send me their .vp file with the fixed mission in it?
-
It's a bug with either the red-alert feature or the "no briefing" thing.
-
yes i KNOW that, that doesnt help me any since i know nothing about FREDing :hopping:
-
Plop this into your missions folder.
The red-alert bug causes the black screen because your ship is considered 'destroyed'. (I was fooling around with Solar Wars and discovered it in mission six - the wingman display showed my whole wing was destroyed.)
