Title: Help! Need to restore previous version of a file!

Accidentally saved over my work, and now find out that System Restore does not in fact restore my documents. Damnit. Anyway, I read on the web that I could select properties, and go to a tab labeled "previous versions." No dice, there is no such tab for me!!! What can I do?

That is a Vista feature. I suppose there could be a 3rd party program for this kind of thing for XP/2k, but they probably cost $$ and return garbage anyway. Depending on what word processor you used, the program itself might save earlier saves. You could check that out.

should've looked into something called "Shadow copy"
