hi. i recently downloaded freespace scp using the freespace installer.
i also downloaded the freespace port mod
while playing freespace 1 campaign i noticed that i cant see any asteroids (you can target them but not shoot them down)
im on that asteroid shooting mission with galatea and i cant complete it because of this
can anyone help me?
-
ok nevermind. i found the solution in a previous thread :)
-
What was it?
-
ah, i didnt have jpg/tga textures turned on in the launcher.
-
I have the same problem but i dont find any option to enable the tga/jpg-textures in the launcher.
In the first Special Operations Command-Misison, where i have to defend the NTF ICENI, are invisible asteroids, which i cant destroy but they destroy the ICENI.
Got anyone a solution?

Go to the features tab on your launcher and under the graphics section there is an "Enablejpg/tga textures" box. Make sure this checked and you should be good to go!

There isnt any option. All fields are clear.

Do you happen to be getting any "Failed to read flag" errors?
-
No. All 4 fields are clear. I cant click on anything and if i start the game, no error appears.

Try deleting your "Launcher6.ini" file from your FS2 root folder and restarting the launcher.

Ok now there are options. But i cant find one to activate tga/jpg-textures.
In the graphicoptions i only can enalbe D3D 32bit-mode

No, that is on the graphics tab. click on the features tab. The one that has your commandline options in it, and where you select a mod etc. There is a section below where you can configure you commandline with check boxes, I think the first drop sown list is graphics and a list of check boxes below that. The first one should read "Enable Specular". Just look down that list until you find "Enable jpg/tga" and make sure that check box has an x in it.

I know where i have to do it, but the only option that is shown by features/graphics is "enable D3D 32bit-mode". :(
-
Which build are you using, you should be using FSOpen 3.6.9 final with launcher 5.5a (IIRC it could b by now?? :nervous: )?
-
I use 3.6.9 with 5.5a.
Whats with IIRC? What is IIRC???
Sorry, but im german and my englisch isnt that good.
-
IIRC = If I Recall Correctly.
Are you using Opengl on the graphics tab? If not you should be using it. I'm a little loss as to what is wrong here now? Could you post a screenshot of your FS2 root directory for us to look at? Also what does your commandline say? Do you have mediavps enabled as a mod?

No, he's on the right tab, he just needs to select the .exe at the top first.

There shouldn't be a space between Freespace & 2 in the line, but that is beside the point, (It's not the problem I don't think) Remove that space in the folder name however as it will only cause you problems in the future. See the post above yours that may help you. I would show you with screenshots but I am at my work computer at the moment and therefore cannot.

I dont know, what to do :shaking:
Here is a picture of my launcher

Remove the space from between Freespace and 2 in your folder name! Your Folder should be named "Freespace2" instead of "Freespace 2"
-
Try deleting you launcher6.ini file, it may be corrupt. I assume that you did not get some warning about "flags.lch", correct? And I assume that you have OpenAL installed already.

That doesn't matter, I fixed that bug a long time ago. It wasn't even a bug anyway, just some stupid thing that the launcher complained about for absolutely zero reason.

Wobble was right.
Thank you all for your help :)
