Hi everybody!
I hate to waste everybody's time but I had just used Turey's installer and was wondering if the files 'Deus ex Machina' and 'Derelict' are utterly necessary, as I have tried several times to download them to no avail. Any assistance at all would be useful, thanks in advance.

They are not necessary, they are side campaigns.

ZOMG! 27th!
Welcome to the HLPBB, UniversalLemon. I won't waste my time with a welcome speech, so...that is all. :D
I recommend you to DL them once you complete your installations. They're both important campaigns.
-
Important isn't really the word, more like very fun and recommended. ;)
-
I have tried multiple times to DL the files through the installer, but have not had any success. Is there a link to these to files somewhere? Amd if so, are they large files? I really would like the whole package... this looks like a fun game... pluse interplay rocked!
Thank you in advance.

Try Hades Combine. Go to Downloads, then Campaigns.
Here's the link:

Alright! Borat would call this moment a sexy time. The link worked as did the DL's. I appreicate all the help - now to FREESPACE!
Thanks!

Weird. They're hosted the same place that the retail files are - my website :D
-
Though it's not really required, I think Derelict is a must. I'm enjoying this campaign (and being challenged by it) more than the FS2 Retail campaign.
-
If you don't play Derelict, you fail at life.

It's my job. I do it gratis(as all of our slaves..err...volunteers, would say Sid ;) ). Now bring more people to the community!

Uhm...a bit exaggerated, but it's somewhat true!

In Derelict, the missions with the Shivans are much cooler than they were in the retail game. When there are tons of Shivans flying around, like when the Nyralathotep gets loose from the docking rings -- you stand a pretty good chance of actually losing the mission, several times in a row.
There's not some Colossus coming along until later, and when you finally get the Valhalla, then it gets injured and you have to continue to take on Shivans in your (frequently underarmed) old, slow fighters. It's a great idea, and when I finally beat a mission it's pretty cool. I don't know how many times I've hit Alt-J with my hull integrity lower than 25%, but you really are like, come-on, when am I getting out of here. It's well done.
