So, I got Turey's installer yesterday and I had it download the whole kit of stuff with it. Anyhow, I go to the mod tab in FS2 Open's launcher and select, let's say, the Derelict folder.
I hit apply and then run... and nothing happens, I'm put right back into the normal FS2 campaign. The Campaign Room shows nothing to select but the FS2 option that's default.
FSPort crashes while trying to load the first mission, saying it has invalid weapons and everything.
Help!

Now, I'm new here, so I dunno if I'll give the best advice, but...
From what I hear, if you put the Derelict .vp files in the main Freespace 2 directory, it'll become a selectable campaign. I haven't tried this myself - no, I went for another option altogether!
See, I tracked down the Freespace 2 Links Directory at http://members.lycos.nl/afdportal and found the Derelict campaign on there. Then I followed the instructions, downloading the newest version of the files available and dropping them into my "Derelict" folder, then unzipping them.
The campaign worked like a charm, and the voice acting is incredible. However, I did run into the problem I detail in my own thread! So, maybe my way isn't the best...

Ah, but he used the Installer package, which, AFAIK, puts Derelict in the proper place automatically.

:welcome:
A good thing to do when finding a new error is to run the debug mode and post the error spew it gives you. I'm trying to think what could cause a problem like that... and the only things I can think of should be taken care of by the installer... :doubt:

I would strongly advise against doing the first of those two things. Can't talk about the second one but sticking VP files in the main FS2 folder is responsible for a quite large percentage of the tech problems I see on this board.

Could this be another Rootfs2.vp ->rootfs2.vp problem??
-
I thought of that but it should still be able to find the campaign files for the other mods even if Root_FS2.vp is borked.
Can't hurt to look in your FS2 folder and check that the file size of that VP isn't 0 though cshank4.

perhaps it's just a corrupt download

My standard SCP install of Derelict didn't work, though. Once I downloaded the packs directly from Blaise's file-sharing site, though, and put them in the derelict sub-folder, the campaign worked fine. I love the way SCP automatically downloads some good mods for you - but some of them are missing data. I know I might catch some flak from this, but it's how it worked for me, and apparently for this guy too. It's mostly minor stuff - the campaigns work without it, from what I've seen, except for Derelict.
Which I finished about ten minutes ago.
There are not enough smilies on this board to express my joy.
