yeah i know - there werent beams in those good old days - but what the heck - thats a prototype :-)

And its not complete et, but ive already taken so long over it - ithought may as well show it to people - i'll probably throw in at least 10 more fighters/bombers - and maybe the vasudans too !

Wow!!! My _only_ nitpick is the angle on that Orion - too isometric. Aside from that - awesome attention to detail dude!!

Not to sound off color or anything...but I thought the render contest was done with allowing new entries weeks ago?

If not I need to add the Crusade render  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

hey thanx guys - well shrike am i too late?

btw - if anyone tried the black n white version earlier today and the image wasnt loading - damn sorry - but ive fixed that now.

the orion is flat like that because when i started the render i didnt know how to use 3DX and hence the only way i could show the sheer size of the orion, without it looking strange (beleive me it looks real bad unless u use 3DX for large ships). Does anything other than the orion lack perspective?

Very special thanx to Thunder for helping me with 3DX etc. right from telling me it exists to how to use it and most especially for the pof2cob conversion  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Yeah i know im sounding like ive just won an academy award - but it really feels great to hear so many people appreciate ur work. Thanx again.

Well, if you're asking, I think the Fenris/Leviathan, while seen from an angle, has a lack of perspective (see Setekh's examination of the effect here ("http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/hosted/array/imgarchive.php?image=31")) in a way.

Only other thing I can think of is that the Orion is lacking engine glows.

VERY nice missiles and effects... though I have to say this is entirely historically incorrect. During the time of the Great War, the GTA had no beams or flak.

And yes I agree on the perspetive part.

Great job though!

Anyways, can anyone help me with making renders for homeworld? lots of the ships have large areas on them that isnt skinned when i look at them in 3DX - why is that happeneing?
