anyone heard of this?
It's a fairly decent (not great) starship game, which has a huge gaming area and, as well as varioyus types of ship combat, an FPS section for sending marines to planets.
Just wondering if anyone had played it, and if it was worthwhile - especially compared to IWar2.
-
I almost bought this, but decided I should read some reviews before-hand. It looked really cool, all of these different genres rolled into one, but it looked to good to be true. Apparently, it was. Most review scores gave it anywhere from 3.5-6 on a 1-10 scale. In retrospect, FS2 and IW2 got 7.5-9.

Is there a web site for the game?

True..i saw 72%. But I-War 2 'only' got 85% in the same mag, so I was just wondering if anyone had tried it...

Isn't that Derek Smart's game?
-
If they're talking about Battlecruiser Millenium ("http://www.bc3000ad.com/products/bcm.shtml"), then yes.
-
Well, I dunno what to think about this series... 3000Ad, i've played it, and it was a pain...

I tried the milleniun demo, a few months ago. Still a pain IMO.

Battleship 300Ad is available from www.theunderdogs.org ("http://www.theunderdogs.org") for free, although I have no idea what it is , or how old it is.... I just read this in a magazine, bTw (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
-
You can d/l it from the official site too ("http://www.bc3000ad.com").
d/l page ("http://www.bc3000ad.com/downloads/bc3k.shtml").

Hmm... the original was published by Interplay (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
Shame it's a big D/L - sounded interesting.
It's also pretty refreshing that they listed the bad reviews on the website, alongside the good ones. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

battleship millenium, isn't that in TA?

CRUISER. BattleCRUISER 3000 AD.
And yes, anyone with an interest in space sims has heard of it. The author, Derek Smart, is one of the most infamous characters in the game development community.

Actually, both those releases weren't supposed to be out.
The big, bad, corporate paper-pushers decided the game was taking too long, and shoved it out the door too soon.
Right now, he's working on the game some more, perfecting it.
Kinda sounds like *shudder* Daikatana, doesn't it (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)?

Aldo: You go there, too? Man, now I gotta watch the repetitive material...
And yes, that's the freeware version, but don't you think it'd be nice, if you're not going to encourage corporate use of freeware by paying for the new version, at least not to go around telling everyone else how to screw one of the only corps I can think of that DOESN'T deserve to be screwed?

The title says it all.

What is the link to his ranting page? If you thought the people at your local asylum are bad, take another look...

But persistent. The day he gets it right he'll have a major hit on his hands.

Go where?
And, er, I'm not going to buy a game when I can get a similar version for free beforehand....
Plus, I've never heard of Derek Smart. Read into that what you will. Nice game idea/concept, though.
