Title: Sync
Post by: Kaoru on April 15, 2007, 12:38:18 am
Wow. Today has certainly been a memorable one.
Oh, I'm jumping into the middle of things again, aren't I? Sorry, I'm still rather keyed up, and... well, it's dark outside. Not inside, not yet, but with all the power flunctuations that've been hitting lately, who knows how long that'll last...?
So I have to get this out, now, while I still can.

I finished Transcend. Now, that may not sound like a glorious achievement to all of you, but it certainly was to me. To write down how much I enjoyed every mind-bogglingly-confusing moment of it would take me hours, hours that I don't have, but suffice to say I'm almost tempted to just start a fresh thesis on the brilliance of that campaign. I'm sure it'd net me something, perhaps even a good paycheck from somewhere or other.

I also finished the Necronomicon. A little before I finished Transcend, as a matter of fact - had to do something to stave off the loading times and the darkness. Suffice it to say, after the experience of Abdul's madness mixed with the twisted-but-spectacular Source-Code-Project and Media-VPS-boosted strains of Transcend's unique brand of insanity, my mind was left rather barren. My head is pounding, my heart is throbbing, and...I can barely walk, I feel as if I've somehow torn every muscle in my lower body. That, or I'm just exhausted from going without nourishment for so long.

But enough about me. I'm posting this because I followed the trail of breadcrumbs down the rabbit hole to the Sync website, and found the download link inoperative. Considering the links I've heard about between Transcend and Sync, I'm eager to try the campaign out, but I have no clue where to go about finding it. I don't believe I saw it on Skippy's List.

I know just how Sunder felt, when he talked of how tired he was... good lord, what am I doing to myself...?
...Looking back, I can't believe how creepy I must sound to people right now. I wonder what my voice sounds like...
-Kaoru

EDIT: My exhaustion is showing. Hah...I just realized, through a quick browse of my Freespace 2 folder, that Sync was automatically installed with the 2.6.9 build. Good thing, too...I might've...fallen asleep, if I hadn't found something soon...

It was a good campaign, but a lot of plotholes went unresolved.

Have you played Transcend (though more q's are raised in that one than are answered :P)?

Gee, I wonder if that could be because it is part of a trilogy (please note: Transcend is not part of said trilogy).

I have, indeed, played Transcend. That was the gist of my original post. Hahaha...
Sync's shaping up nicely, too. And I think I ought to re-read the Necronomicon.

Dear god, Snail don't start that again...

But yes, I do believe that Sync is part 1 of a trilogy. The other two parts haven't been written yet.

I thought Transcend was not a direct sequel, but was placed in the same universe as Sync?

Right. That's why I said it wasn't part of the trilogy. It is more of a side story.

Uhm...I would say that Transcend is the best campaign, but the cool moments are too spread out. You pass hours fighting Herc IIs sent by the GTVA, and there are only a few cool moments. Ransom used advanced SEXPs as well, and I really enjoyed his work.

My favourite campaign... is Steadfast... :)

Steadfast needs better mod material, but its FREDding can't be challenged. :p

You still haven't seen the best of it...  ;7
For the mod material, well, I have an idea for improvement but it must be still discussed in the team (mobius have a look on TSP).
