Hmm...
Did you install the mediavps into a separate directory as instructed (.../data/mediavps/)? If so did you then select the mediavps as a mod from the launcher? And did you enable specular and glow mapping from the launcher?
-
yeah and YES
-
In any case.. calm down a bit..
So did the game work before you installed 3.6.9s?
Are you getting no textures at all or only the old textures or does the game crash?
Then... What graphics card do you have? Are you using OpenGL? Can you post your full command line?
-
ok
The game worked before the new exe was out
i only see old textures and the game only crash if i run a Mod called 'Transcend'(I think i only have to install the cruiser fix patch)
and yes its OpenGl Running on Nvidia GeForce G0 7400 On
Intel Core 2 CPU
T5500 @ 1.66 GHz
with commandline
C:\Documents and Settings\Brenden Cai\Desktop\tESTIER\fs2_open_3_6_9.exe -mod Transcend -spec -glow -env -jpgtga -mipmap -nomotiondebris -2d_poof -dualscanlines -targetinfo -ballistic_gauge -ship_choice_3d -3dwarp -warp_flash
-
No idea what causes the Transcend crash unless.. it might use .avi cutscenes and i'm not sure if new builds any longer support them.. i could be wrong with this one though.
However the actual texture issue.. Try selecting 'mediavps' mod from the launcher. Try it out. Does it have new textures? If it works, then for 'activating' mediavps for mods see http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/installingmods.html
Also make sure you have only the 3.6.8 zeta mediavps and the related patches (mp-710 patches for example) and nothing odd leftovers from 3.6.7 mediavps (like amodelspatch.vp etc.) .
-
Try Launcher 5.5b (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/Launcher.rar) (Prolly not the problem; however, 5.5a was updated due to a bug...)
-
The problem is that Transcend doesn't have a mod.ini file IIRC and therefore it's not using the mediavps, you need to add -mod mediavps to the commandline to make it work. You can see in his commandline that mediavps aren't being used.
-
Using 'multi-mod' via mod.ini is still the recommended way of doing that. Which is why i linked the Karajorma's FreeSpace FAQ.

Unzip this file to your Transcend folder.

yes a mod ini would be nice...

Someone needs to make a picture for it though.
