I have my system dual booting with XP Pro and Vista Ultimate.
So far Freespace SCP seems to be working normal for me :)
Running in OpenGL graphics & OpenAL audio in generic software mode.
BTW - Vista has a much better, much smoother speech engine, albeit feminine.
hip63 :p
P.S. - I also just upgraded to AMD Opteron 185 Dual Core processor, check out the stats in my sig! ;7

Good to hear!
What, only a duel core processor? Quadcore, my friend. quadcore. Your system is simply too awesome to be marred with such an average processor. :p
-
I run Vista Home Premium and I really dont have any problems either except the fact that FRED looks a bit odd, however I must agree with Vretsu you really must upgrade to Intel processors and quad-core aswell as DDR2 also your graphics cards dont have enough memory :-)

Sorry but after running 3Dmark06 & getting within striking range of 7000 points, I don't think there is anything "average" about it.

Well being that I have AMD 939 Motherboard & bloated credit card bill, I think not. And I still like AMD better than Intel, besides, even if you cut my system in half, it would still be a better system that most people currently have, lol And not to be rude but either of you got better? (if you do, cool, I bow to you and you PCs greatness, if you don't, then shut up) And last, I can run even the new Command & Conquer 3 & about any other big game you can think of at 1680 x 1050, maxed out settings & still hit up to 200 FPS (or better), (FEAR on max hits nearly 300) so tell me again how "average" my system is, LOL
Sorry for the mini rant but I got a lot $$$ & sweat wrapped up into a system going into it's 3rd year & at this point it looks like it will make it another year + (not mention I will be ugrading to to pair of 8800 when I feel I need to but right now, I'm happy with 200FPS in like oh, EVERYTHING)
hip63 :p
P.S.- Most games & apps don't even use the full power of dual cores right now and they REALLY don't use all the power of quad cores so I definitely feel that quad cores are wasted money ATM (that will change of course, but it will take a couple of years before you see them fully realized and by then I will be ready for a whole new ssytem anyway ;))

May I recommend, from a guy with a long signature, and partners in
crime FRED with a guy with an even longer-ass signature, that you slim yours down a little bit? Reduced font, condense each line into two.

@hip63: AMD FTW!!
EDIT: You coulda told me about the 1.01 patch... ;)

Hey guis exactly what kind of PC do i have to buy in order to be able to rung Vista wihtout any problem. Any help with this situation would be welcomed but please make sure that such a PC does not exceed 700 euros! I'm not inclueding the monitor here cuz I already have one. And well I have no idea what exactly to buy. I mean I know what I want i'm just not sure it is gooing to ensure me a safe running of Vista.

C&C3 has a ridiculously low 30fps framecap, if you haven't noticed. :p It is possible to remove it with some work, but the entire game speeds up correspondingly so it's of no use. I actually used to have the same video cards (exact same models) and was quite disappointed in their performance in anything but modern (2004 and newer) OpenGL games. Much of that had to do with the SLI vsync bug, as I still have one of the cards in another system and it works very well on its own.
Don't get me wrong, it is a pretty good system, but it's not quite worthy of bragging rights at this point. :p I have a similar setup and I consider it basically outdated now, although I haven't bothered upgrading because there are practically no games worth upgrading for.
A 185 was needlessly expensive though if you were going to overclock anyway. I'm getting 2.9ghz on a measly 165 I got a year ago.

Just about anything you can buy today will run Vista perfectly, if you're simply talking about the OS interface.
-
well i'm not talking just about the OS interface ! And since for that kind of money I cant exactly buy a PC that runs everithing perfectly I just want to know if I can get something that will run most of the stuff outthere in a fairly decent fashion.

Much. I can't do much to reduce mine; the quote takes up most of it.
