Title: Newbie Help
Post by: Jevarell on April 24, 2007, 08:36:15 am
I've done a search but couldn't find it mentioned anywhere so here goes!

I've been playing the FS2 main campaign and had a quick play on some of the mods as well (which are all excellent btw!) and I think I have inadvertantly messed up some files.

When I try to go back to the main FS2 campaign and load up the mission I have no weapons whatsoever. I have called in a rearm/repair ship and this gives me my primary guns but no missiles.

I could probably get by but the mission I am at is 'A Game Of TAG' which relies on me having the missiles to complete the objectives!

Is there any obvious/easy way of fixing this as the missiles were present the first time I played the mission but when I went back to it after dipping into a few mods, they had vanished.

Anyway I'm glad I found this site to download this excellent game, so thanks and keep up the good work!

(Braces himself for any stray noob beams)

:welcome:

You seem to have corrupted your pilot file, restart the campaign with a new pilot and everything should be A-Okay!

Before you try a new pilot, try hitting the "Reset Loadouts" button on the mission briefing.

Actually this one is a known problem. And you can't simply reset the weapons because A Game of Tag is a scramble mission. I'm trying to remember what advice we gave people in the past for this particular problem.

That only works in red-alert missions.  This is not a red-alert mission.

Would extracting the mission, turning off the Scramble flag, and resetting the loadouts work?

If all else fails, Jevarell, you don't actually need TAG missiles to complete the mission.  Just destroy all the fighters and you'll be fine.  It'll be harder than usual, but still possible.

Yeah I'd imagine that's the easiest solution.

What I'm wondering is whether this bug is fixed or not yet.

Thanks for the replies, as karajorma said I couldn't reset the loadouts so looks like either start from scratch or try it without the missiles.

I'll just keep plugging away, it should improve my skills if nothing else!

Then I'll have a look at trying multiplayer.

theres always:

new pilot+ctrl-shift-s in mission simulator= play any mission you want.

That pretty much prevents any further campaign play.

Anyway simply stick this in your MediaVPs\Data\Missions folder and you'll be good to go.

No. But it's a legally valid reason to kill someone, so...

You peeps don't really hate Takashi. If you did, you'd add him to ignore and be done with it. No, I think he's your sole source of amusement. Every forum needs an uber noob, you know. Otherwise the entire system collapses.

Right. Now how the hell do I resuscitate this guy?

Funny, it seems that the main forum display index lists the subject of the post rather than the subject of the topic. I was wondering what the thread named "Lawl" was about...
