Title: Hrmm...
Post by: Stryke 9 on February 02, 2002, 02:05:00 pm
The first game in almost half a year to capture my interest, but I can't tell if it sucks or not...

Just in case anyone's interested in beta-testing, I'm gonna hold out for something STABLE-looking...

Wow! They've made...err....Freelancer. The backgrounds of the pages look good if they are in-game shots (doubtful).

I like the site though. Very well constructed and has some nice eye-candy.

EDIT: I've found some shots!

I think I've heard about this game before. You can underwater and across land as well as into space. Infact I think I signed up to Beta this a few months back.

Looks a little kiddy-ish but might be worth a try.

Oh, Earth and Beyond. yeah, I know that for quite long (I come from the Westwood community ), and well, I'm not really interested, can't afford to play massively online games.

'Course, the thing I took issue with (aside from the rather derivative art and the fact that they seem to want to make it half RPG), is that knowing the sort of people who flock to multiplayer games, all you'd really get out of it is a few new uses of swearing...

But it's always fun decloaking behind a newbie freighter and blowing it to **** .

im also from the westwood comunity, the ingame feels too...colorful and childish, not warlike the way it is with fs2.  I still prefer Tiberian Sun over all other westwood games

Hmmm. I think NOTHING beats Red Alert! The first one. Man, that kicked *** ! I remember when I popped that CD in and loaded it up, aamazed at the installation, but nothing compared to the intro! Man, I head banging to that guitar rift through out the game after that! Sweet game. Red Alert 2 is ok... But... I dunno, Red Alert was just plain old sweet!  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Talking about massive online games, I remmeber BETA testing this one Space Sim, called JumpGate. Not a bad little game. You join one of three faction, and basically are a freelancer. You start out with a crappy ship, but as you take on more jobs you get cash, the usual ploy. But the fun part was that once you joined one of the squads, WAR! There were all out war in space, where you'd find a rival squads frigate and you'd blast it to hell or you'd find a couple of miners minding their own business, then you'd sneak up on em and send a missile at em! Yup, fun game, lacked in graphics, and also became a bit dull, as travel was in real time. Like in I-War 2, but without the LDS drive. I swear, some runs took 30 mins to complete.

I beta'd JumpGate as well. The hangar screen has pretty lame and those wierd alien things were a ***** . They killed you with like one shot. It decended into chaos after eveyone decided that it was open season on ships with Civillian or Merchant tags.

Yeah, they were called the Conflux! I remember geting blown to bits by them alot of times. But then I fought back. And started to earn my keep by shooting at them. Then one weird day, they weren't around any more...

Looks great, but its online only, so its not worth even downloading a beta.
