Sorry but I'm still looking for an English translation of this article...
BTW, the Italian WWF President seems to be very worried about any water shortage for the upcoming summer, so he came out with this "genial" idea: don't wash yourself and keep the same clothes on for some days. This way, you reduce the amount of water used!
Anybody can think of a more stupid idea than this?

Yay!
"Save water, Bath with a friend!" :drevil: ;7

That guy, Fulco Pratesi, was an hunter...he's now a renegade in the side of the environmentalists :blah:
:wakka:
He's stupid afterall!!!
"Save water, Bath with a friend!" :drevil: ;7
Young girls....I like the idea!
-
Not too young...
About your own age, attractive, etc
-
Well aslong as its 18+ its ok :pimp:

It'd make sense if he suggested people used the shower more... Though communal baths sounds ok, depending on the company ;)
As for clothes, I wouldn't advise it, especially not if the weather is hot. Maybe he should suggest people bathe in their clothes as well, thus saving time and water? ;)

A friend of mine got yelled at in a italian hotel after emptying the bathtub after taking a bath. Apparently, the water in the bathtub was supposed to last the whole week. They really should invest in more water purification facilities.

-Invading Iraq
-Iran taking 15 British sailors hostage
-Veganism
-Atkins Diet
-Abstinence-only sex education
-Getting an education on global warming from a former politician and US Presidential candidate
...and the list goes on.
What? You asked :P I thought of 6 in less than 30 seconds :P

...and keep the same clothes on for some days...
I take it that you people change clothes twice every day? I usually wear the same clothes for a couple of days. I'm not that filthy that my shirt becomes unusable after 12 hours of watching TV... If I'm sweating a lot for some reason (like working etc), then of course I chance clothes and shower after that. And underwear (if, for some reason, I'm wearing them) I chance frequently.
And I don't necessarily shower every day. I go to sauna + shower 2 times a week, and plus a couple of additional showers to that. Quite enough washing for me.
And this is in Finland, where clean water is in abundance... We have those lovely lakes. We don't even drink bottled water much here. But I hear in some countries the drink nothing else.
Italy of course is another matter. It's a hot climate and surrounded by the Mediterranean. And that particular sea, as we all know, is shallow puddle of filth... So its not surprising they have a water shortage. That using the same bathwater for a week thing is disgusting. Why don't they use a sponge to scrub themselves clean? Uses a lot less water with good results.
-
The problem with using the same bath water for a week is it tends to go cold after an hour and I prefer my baths scorching hot.
It'd funny though, this reminds me of Neil in The Young One's.................
Neil is sat in a bath of sludge, the lights go out
"Hello darkness my old friend,............."

Apparently this is a problem effecting the Greeks too. I'm damned if I'm cutting down on my showers on holiday - tis hot in those places for a shivery-arsed scotsman.
-
Who needs water when you got Bosch beer?
See i solved the problem in seconds.

I have to reformulate that phrase. Read it as "change your clothes less often" :)

Never heard of such things happening. And we have a good number of water purification facilities, the problem is that the pipes for water transportation have so many leaks that we only get one third of the original amount of water :doubt: And nobody cares about fixing the pipes.

You forget Mafia.
"Do you see that purification plant?
Well, no...
Uh? That purification plant...the government spent 3 Million € for it...
I see nothing..."
Maybe the engineers kept the money...

I must admit, the thread title made me think of smelly wrestlers, which is really not a nice thought.

They surely aren't worried for the shortage of water....

So the Romans developed urban water distribution systems more advanced than anything that would follow for hundreds of years afterwards...and yet modern Italy can't even fix a few leaks? Ouch. :p

They're WWE, not WWF (well not anymore) :P

Simple...have enough underwear to last 2 weeks and enough clothes in combinations to last about just as long. Switch shirts every day or let them air out before wearing again and then just wear the same pants a few times in a row. I fully endorse people be hygenic but some take it to the extreme...you usually don't need to change clothes several times a day. On the other hand, if you've just come back from a run or a soccer game or something then by all means wash that stuff :D

Depends...people in the North could have problems of some sort. Here such problems should be rare. For example, my family doesn't pay the water. We conducted escavations in our "ranch" and found sorgenti of water, so we're completely independent now.

Might also be important to note that the population of Italy (or Europe...or the World) was significantly smaller.
-
That's not the point... as far as I know, only Rome had advanced infrastructures. Of course, many other Roman cities could have had something similar, but "Rome comes first". I think that most Roman cities were...normal under this point of view.

Considering the fact that the population of the city of Rome at the height of the Empire is estimated at somewhere between a half-million and a million people, it really wasn't much smaller than most modern cities. ;) 'Twas in jest, though.
