I finally after a long wait managed to get hold of Freespace 2. However when I click on setup I get error code 102. "Setup requires a diffrent version of windows. Check to make sure that you are running the setup on the windows platform for which it is intended" Does anyone have the Soloution to this problem?
I currently am running on Windows Service Pack 1 (Home edition) My Computer has the latest graphics cards, 512Mb Ram and DirectX 9c. it fits all the requirements for the game so I'm unsure why it will not install.

:welcome:
Welcome to the HLPBB. Exits are to your left, right, and anywhere else you can imagine. In case of attack, there is a flamethrower under your seat. However, due to budget cuts, they have been filled with water. Plasma rifles are located in the weapons lockers, which are only openable by admins, V-gods, or a hyper intelligent shade of the color blue. When wandering the corridors, be sure to check out our various locales, such as disco Inferno, the Babylon Project embassy, or the memorial to the GTVA Colossus, the biggest water gun the universe has ever seen. When wandering the ducts, you may stumble upon Carl the shivan. If so, give him your lunch and back away slowly. Maybe you'll live. Thank you and have a pleasant stay.
Please, no mentioning the third installment of our favourite game, it ain't gonna happen. Also it's worth mentioning that if you're gonna start a thread about politics, religion or evolution, it's gonna start a flame war, so be prepared!
Oh, and don't take advice from Takashi!
Now, as to your problem are you using Turey's on-line installer? Or are you using retail disks? If the latter I recommend you try the former. Otherwise, you could try right-clicking on the setup icon and choosing Win98/ME compatablilty within the properties!!

I am using the disks, Chaning the Compatability in the Properties didn't work im afraid. So im going to try that Online installer you mentioned.
By the way, thanks for the warm welcome.

Before you do that, make sure to copy all the .vp files on all three disks into the directory you're installing to. Will save you a lot of downloading time.

All you gotta do, is find the setup program on the disk, right-click on it, hit Properties, then hit the compatibility tab on top, then select "Windows 98/Me"
Problem solved. :p

he said he already tried that...

Woops, missed that. This is strange. I use XP, and have no problems.... :nervous: Perhaps try installing SP2? (Dunno, but that's what I run, and it works..)
-
well, for more than just FS, i'd download and install XP SP2, you really need to update it.
Plus, SP2 add a ton of compatabilty fixes & may cure your issues with FS
